In the early 1900s, Plano was a small town in Dallas County, Texas. It was home to a few mills and cattle farms, as well as some small businesses. The biggest employer in Plano at that time was the Post office. However, by the early 1920s, the mill had closed and most of the population had moved away. The first firearms hat company in Plano was started by three men who lived in Dallas County: George Brownell (alias Black Jack), Solomon Weisman and John Purdy. On November 7th, 1922, they opened their business at 411 Main Street in Plano with twenty-four hats on hand. At that time, hats were not very common items worn by people outside of rural areas. They were more likely to be worn by farmers or cowboys who needed to protect their heads from the sun or rain. However, because of their popularity, these hat companies quickly became successful and continued operations until around 1940 when they merged with another Hat Company to form buccaneer Hats Incorporated (now HAT). During World War II, plans were made to produce military hats for troops overseas. Unfortunately, due to shortages of materials abroad, not all hats turned out as planned and many soldiers ended up without head protection while serving in combat zones overseas. As a result of this fiasco – which left many veterans homeless – hat manufacturers decided against producing any new hats during wartime production instead opting for recycled materials like felt or straw instead. However, after the war ended there remained demand for Military Headwear so hat companies began again production throughout the 1950s through 1960s utilizing a variety of materials including felt and cloth products until finally becoming fully automated in 1966 using machines controlled from headquarters located in Arlington Heights IL USA

In 1961 plans were made to build a new downtown square that never happened due to budget cuts within Dallas County government however some redevelopment occurred around what is now Midtown Park near Central Avenue and Elm Street when business boomed during late 1960s/early 1970s when central DowntownDallas became known as "Plano".
