The Plainview Independent School District is located in Plainview, Texas and serves students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. The district has a population of 8,564 as of the 2010 census. The school board is chaired by Mrs. Debbie Horn and includes 3 members: Vice Chairman Dr. Donny Workman (a dentist), Mr. Dan Treadway (a truck driver) and Mrs. Pam Youngblood (an artist). The Plainview ISD was founded on November 1, 1912 when the citizens of Plainview voted to form an educational district with schools from Plano, Richardson, Dallas, Grapevine and other nearby towns. In 1916 the school board membership changed from 3 to 5 members with John Gresham being elected Chairperson for that year; this position he held until his death on October 14th of that same year at the age of 82 years old. In 1922 Dr. Caryl Sargent became Superintendent after serving as Acting Superintendent for one year due to the death of Dr. John Gresham who had been appointed Director of Education for Brazoria County two years earlier while still a trustee at Clear Lake Baptist Church where he pastorized services since 1906 when he also served as First Baptist Minister in plain view during those early days before Christianity took over that land east of I-10 known then as “Plain View” Settlement which was located near present day Slaughter Road just southwest of Interstate 10 Exit 114A in what is now Farmers Branch Township adjacent to Springtown Cemetery northwest of Rice University campus prior to its annexation by Plano in 1923 becoming part of the city limits expanding boundaries within original Humble Township bounded on the east by I-10 exit rampExit 114B northwestward joining Clear Lake town Limits extending boundary southwestward through present day Farmers Branch Township annexing additional land including what is now Springtown Cemetery westward into Rice University Campus annexed territory forming today’s City Limits which are home to over 70%of Texans living within their municipal borders making our region an extremely competitive place To this date PlainView residents continue their participation on our Board even after retirement or moving away from our community represented by current Memberselected officials representing Cities like Houston Chronicle columnist & Pulitzer Prize winning author subbing coverage during session weekdays along side public service announcements conducted daily via loudspeaker out front courtesy Tower Broadcasting Corporation

Plainview is a town in Bell County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,856 at the 2010 census. Plainview is nicknamed "The Prairie Village". Its post office has been in operation since 1892. The first settler in Plainview was John Fenton and his family who arrived on horseback from Kentucky on December 14, 1847. They named their new homestead "Fenton's Landing" after John Fenton's father-in-law, James Dolan. In 1848, the Fentons acquired another piece of land and moved to what is now Plainview Township. On May 30th of that year they set up a store and built a schoolhouse which still stands today as part of the town center. A post office was established at PlainVIEW in 1892 and remains in operation today. In 1901 the town had an estimated population of 100 people but by 1905 it had decreased to 60 due to the Panic of 1907 which took its toll on agricultural production throughout Texas. However, with continued investment by local businessmen over subsequent years the population increased again until reaching 1,856 by2010 according to US Census data . It wasn't until 1909 when Plains View began receiving state assistance through aid programs like Enlisted Men's Home which allowed small towns such as Plains View to grow economically while also providing essential services such as schools and fire protection for their residents
Plainview was founded in 1853 by James Fenton and his wife, Sarah. The town was named for the Plains of Abraham, east of which it was located. In 1865, Plainview became a seat of government for the newly created Texas County. In 1876, Plainview incorporated as a city under the name of Dallas.
