Plainview is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth–Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1871 by pioneer George W. Smith and his family as Plainview Station on the Brazos River. In 1887, it became an incorporated municipality under the name of Plainview. On March 14, 1907, it collided with neighboring Arlington before splitting off from that city to become its own municipal authority again under the name of Plainview on April 5th. The village had a population of just over 100 until 1912 when it reached its current size due to increased agricultural production and more people moving into the area from surrounding counties and townships. In 1957, Plainview voters passed a resolution ratifying annexation by Arlington which made it an official suburb of Fort Worth. The annexation removed much of what remained rural character about Plainview while increasing its commercial importance within Fort Worth's boundaries since Arlington could now provide services such as water and sewer systems for their residents without having to build them themselves- something that had been difficult or impossible to do prior to this time

During World War II, the city functioned as an important military base providing services such as housing, food production, transportation, medical care and munitions production. After the war ended, Plainview experienced rapid growth culminating in its incorporation as a city in 1960. Today, Plainview is home to over 100 businesses including several hospitals and schools that continue to serve the community well into the 21st century.
On October 15, 1836, Plainview was founded by Captain John H. White and his wife Elizabeth as a rancho in present-daytx. The first post office was established at Plainview on November 6, 1836. By 1840, the population of Plainview had grown to around 100 residents. In 1846, Captain White sold the rancho to Manuel Gomez and settled in San Antonio de Bexar County. After Mexican Independence was achieved in1821, Texas became part of the United States of America and Mexico re-established its sovereignty over what is now Texastx on January 1st 1829. In 1846, when Mexican Independence was achieved in Texas it became part of United States of America In 1861 Governor James Bowie called for an partisan election in which he desired to succeed General Sam Houston as president of the Republic Of Texas but only one candidate could be elected so he chose Lt.-Governor David Ewing with no popular vote being cast for him because there were not enough ballots from Travis County! So Bowie resigned from office and took up arms against President Abraham Lincoln while Texans voted their choice for their new leader!
