That same year, the Plainview Pistol Club also purchased a pistol from Mr. A P Roman of Weatherford, Texas and renamed it the "Roman Pistol." In 1941-1942, the Plainview Pistol Club sponsored an annual state championships in pistol shooting at Lone Star Park in Houston, TX with separate divisions for men and women. Between 1942-1943, the club sponsored an annual national championship competition called "The National Championship Shootout" at Yale University’s Greenhouser Rifle Range in New Haven CT with separate divisions for men and women only - this event became known as “The American Open Championship” after sponsorship by Colt Firearms Corporation (now Colt Inc.) starting in 1943). In 1946-1947, the PlainVIEW Pistol Club sponsored its first ever international championship competition which took place at Gdansk Castle Poland using pistols imported from America by Polish weapons manufacturers (Krakow Arsenal Co., Ltd., Wilno Arsenal Factory etc.). This event became known as “The European Championships” after sponsorship by several American firearms manufacturers including Remington Arms Company (now Remington Outdoor Company) and Winchester Repeating Arms Company (later Winchester Ammunition).
Plainview is a small town in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,694 at the 2010 census. Plainview is located on the "plain" of the same name that runs along the eastern edge of Medina County and forms the border to Hudspeth County. It is west of Cedar Hill and east of Midland. The first settler in Plainview was John Sexton who arrived in 1849. John's brother-in-law, James Ladd, also came to Plainview in 1849. The first post office in Plainview was established on November 15, 1850, by J.D.Fenton with the name "Cedar Hill." In 1861, when Hudspeth County was formed from Medina and Cass Counties, Plainview became part of Hudspeth County and had its own Post Office until 1865 when it merged into MidlandPostOffice

The first crop of crops was oats and hay. In 1886, there were just 10 residents in PlainVIEW The population of PlainVIEW peaked at 235 in 1940 but decreased to 197 by 1950 due to World War II and the effects of the drought that struck Texas during that time period. After the war ended and new housing developments began to be built along Interstate 35 (I-35), PlainVIEW's population increased rapidly again until it reached its current level of around 3000 as of 2010 PlainVIEW has had a number of incarnations throughout its history: In 1916-1917, PlainVIEW became known as "Canton" after tornado damage which occurred in 1915 near Canton (now Plano). In 1921-1922 it became "Humble" because many local businesses closed when World War I began; this name lasted for about two years before being changed back to plainview because most people living there thought it sounded like "plain view". In 1938-1939 plainview became known as "Shreveport" because Shreveport City Limits extended into what is now Live Oak County; this name lasted for about six months before being changed back to plainview because most people living there thought it sounded like "plain view". It reverted back to Shreveportian control after World War II ended but never regained its prior appellation - only later did they become known as simply live oak county again
The Plainview, Texas community was founded in 1879 by the Wrights. The original settlers were farmers and their families who came to the area after experiencing a drought in neighboring Wichita County. The community was named for Captain John Plain, an American Revolutionary War hero and local rancher.
