The company imported firearms from all over the world and made them available for purchase at their local gun shop. In 1955, Coke opened a store on Westheimer Road in Plainview. The store was eventually converted into a public library in 1984.
Plainview is a small town in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,581 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1875 by John W. Ahern and James M. Greer. It became a municipality in 1907 and an unincorporated community in 1923. The post office called Plainview until it was discontinued in 1896. The first settler to arrive in what is now Plainview was John W. Ahern, who arrived on horseback from Arkansas on October 10, 1875. He named the land "Plainview" after his victory over Native Americans at the Battle of Plainsville on October 6 that year near present-day Little Rock, Arkansas (now Fort Smith, Arkansas). In 1907, PlainVIEW became an unincorporated community when it merged with neighboring Hartselt Township to form Medina County's second city council seat following passage of countywide election laws that November. With its new boundaries and full municipal government under one roof, PlainVIEW thrived as more people began moving into the small town throughout the 1920s and 1930s; during this time period it also saw growth in local businesses such as banks and grocery stores along with construction of new homes and hospitals which have since been replaced by commercial buildings or used for other purposes such as public schools or apartments. The Great Depression crushed PlainVIEW during the early 1930s; however, through hard work by its citizens–many of whom had lost their jobs due to tight economic conditions–the community bounced back within a few years thanks to increased development around thetown center as well as job opportunities available across Medina County outside of PlainVIEW itself (most notably oil production areas located adjacent to Hartselt Township). Despite this positive turnaround attributable largely to private investment and enterprise rather than government assistance or aid from outside sources such as federal stimulus funds following World War II–plain VIEW continued to experience significant socioeconomic challenges throughout most of the 1940s through 1950s due primarily to factors beyond its control including increasing highway construction rates within Medina County combined with decreased birthrates among residents – problems which would worsen once interstate travel resumed following World War II and subsequent suburbanization within Medina County overall

Plainview, Texas is a town located in Medina County, TX. It was founded in 1881 by James H. McClurg and named after the Plainview Plantation which he had bought from John Nolen. The town developed around the original post office, store and school buildings built between 1881-1892. In 1906, Plainview voted to become an independent municipality and has since grown into a thriving community with a population of over 1,000 residents. The history of Plainview is reflective of the region it resides in - cattle ranchers and farmers were early settlers who helped form what is now Medina County. The town's namesake plantation was originally part of the Callahan Ranch holdings that were acquired by McClurg in 1881. McClurg moved his family to Plainview from Dallas in 1886 when he took over the ranch operation for his father-in-law, George Wacoal. By 1893, local citizens had formed a school board and started building a new Post Office at what is now First Avenue and Main Street (later renamed Main Street East). The first class of Plainview High School students graduated in 1907. Although it was common for small towns throughout Texas to incorporate as municipalities during this time period, PlainVIEW decided to become an independent municipality on November 3rd 1906 due to lack of support from other towns within its boundaries. This decision marked the beginning of an era where annexation became more common as communities began looking for ways to improve their infrastructure and increase their tax base (i.e., annexing neighboring municipalities). PlainVIEW continued to grow rapidly during World War II; thanks to its strategic location within Medina County - close enough to military bases but also far enough away from enemy forces - it became one of the most important centers for wartime commerce and entertainment in eastern Medina County. After the war ended, business activity slowed down as families returned home or relocated elsewhere; however, redevelopment began soon afterwards with businesses such as Lowes Hardware opening up shop on Main Street (now known as State Highway 267) between 1948-1954 before becomingQwest Telecommunication Company in 1967 which still operates today as CenturyLinkTexans Incorporated(). In recent years, growth has again resumed with businesses like Walmart opened up shop along Interstate 10 near Interstate 30 while several high-end residential developments have been announced including Aqua Ridge Estates & Country Club which will include 6 luxury homes/condos/hotels on 5 acres across 2 streets off I-10 near HWY 287 just north of US 249 / SH 288 / Texan Expressway
In 1865, Plainview was the site of a skirmish between Confederate General Braxton Bragg and Union General Ulysses S. Grant. The battle took place on December 12th, 1865, near what is now Brazos Hills Boulevard.
