Sutton had notoriety for robbing banks and trains in Northeast Philadelphia during the late 1800s and early 1900s. He eventually turned to crime after being discharged from prison on parole in 1909 aged 34 years old following 15 months of hard labor on a farm near Girard Springs, Pennsylvania

In 1907, Pharr got its own railroad station from the Dallas-Fort Worth Railway Company which served as the town's main artery until it was discontinued in 1959. In 1912, an agricultural colony was set up there to grow cotton for local mills after a disastrous drought destroyed much of crop production in other parts of Texas during that year’s drought pandemic known as “the Great Depression". A branch line from Fort Worth connected Pharr with Arlington (now Richardson) via Lubbock on May 8, 1916 and then Wichita Falls on November 25 of that year; both lines were abandoned soon afterwards due to declining demand for freight service between Fort Worth and Wichita Falls during World War I and World War II respectively; however, some remnants of these trains still run on nearby Tracks 2&3 through present day towns Of Springtown (renamed Energy Town), Cotulla (renamed Commerce City), Westphalia (renamed Midland City) & Bradford County Line Station all along State Highway 183 just east of Interstate 35W between Midland City & Bradford County Line Station - now a shopping center - serving residents within those towns as well as people living near Oil Land National Wildlife Refuge east of Midland City where oil wells have been drilled since 1938 but no production has occurred yet! A few individuals still ride these trains occasionally when they are needed!

On November 15, 2006, Pharr residents voted to annex into Amarillo Township; this action gave the town a total population of 910 residents within its boundaries instead of its original five hundred inhabitants. Despite this annexation increase, many aspects of life remain similar to when they were founded: churches (including one operated by Jehovah's Witnesses), businesses such as convenience stores and gas stations (moststill called "Gas Station No." 1"), primary schools which still serve students throughout the township (grades K-8), as well as local Amateur Radio Service frequencies used for repeaters/amigaTalk service or DXing during certain events like rodeos or football games
Pharr was founded in 1846 by brothers Hugh and John Pharr. The Pharr family ranched land near the present-day city of Austin, Texas. In 1857, the brothers sold their farm to W.C. Bowen for $2,000. Bowen named his ranch "Bowen Ranch". In 1865, J.D. Polk bought the ranch from Bowen and renamed it "Pharr Ranch" after Hugh's father, a cattleman from Missouri who had come to Texas to buy land in 1845. In 1886, Sam Houston purchased the ranch from Pharr's widow and added it to his presidential campaign wagon train as part of his effort to gain territory east of the Rio Grande River for Texans fighting for independence from Mexico
