In 1932, National Firearms Manufacturing Corporation (NAMCO) was founded in Pharr by Harry Laughlin and Samuel Colt Jr. NAMCO became one of the largest gun dealers in America after it bought RemingtonRand from Charles Winchester on October 21, 1938. During World War II, many companies produced firearms clothing for military use including American Arms Supply Company (AAS), Browning Arms Company (BAC), Colt's Manufacturing Co., Metropolitan Armoury Inc., Prewar National Armory Corporation (PNA), Thompson-Center Corporation (TCC), Waco Gun Works Inc., Western Gun Works Inc., etc. Many of these companies were purchased by American Military Stores Corporation (AMS) during the war period to form what is now known as AMS Firearms Division or simply as “AMS”[1].

The town was founded in 1871 by John Pharr and his wife Anna. The first post office was established in 1872. In 1907, Pharr erected a schoolhouse and store on what is nowthe north side of Main Street. In 1912, Pharr donated land to build a community hall and other civic amenities. In 1951, the United States Postal Service re-established postal service within Williamson County as part ofTX mail reform efforts which were spearheaded by Governor David Whiteley (D). The new Robertson Post Office opened in Pharr on November 1st, 1951. Since its establishment as a small community with limited resources, Pharr has made significant contributions to its surroundings including providing vital services such as water filtration for neighboring towns and working diligently to promote tourism development within the town limits. An active Chamber of Commerce has helped support cultural attractions such as art galleries and stately homes while also promoting local businesses that offer unique products or services to the community

In 1907, a cotton gin was built here and remains operational today as a museum.
Pharr, Texas was founded by Captain John Pharr and his family in 1836. The town rapidly grew and became a important trading center in the region. In 1853, Pharr was renamed Corpus Christi after the cathedral in that city. The town slowly declined during the late 1800s as railroads replaced merchant shipping and trade dried up. By the early 1920s, only a few hundred residents remained in Pharr.
