Pharr is a town in Taylor County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,653 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Taylor County. The name "Pharr" comes from the Creek word "pharr", meaning "a place to pasture." The first settler in Pharr was James Hays, who came in 1836. In 1851, George A. Pharr donated land to the town for use as a school and cemetery. In 1907, Pharr had its own post office and railroad station. However, this ceased operations in 1912 because of economic reasons; after that, mail was transported by stagecoach or train to Dallas or Houston until 1935 when an airmail service began operating with RAFL bombers from Pharr. In 1938-1939, two buildings on Main Street were used as a training camp for Mexican National Guard troops during World War II known as Camp Bowie (later Camp Bowie Air Force Base). In 1945-1946 four barracks were built at what is now Seventh Avenue and Gulf Drive adjacent to Strong Air Force Base (now Luke AFB) which housed up to 1,500 military personnel awaiting discharge from World War II camps across the nation including those at Fort Worth Army Airfield and Camp Bowie near Hearnesville. One of the most famous incidents associated with Pharr took place on October 14th 1964 when local high school students boycott of their school's annual state fair due to low student enrollment led to violent protests throughout much of Texas leadingupto Gov John Connally ordering national guard troops onto campus which ended with 12 arrests
The AR-15 upper receiver is one of the most popular firearms in the United States. It has been in use for over 60 years and is still being produced today. The design of the AR-15 upper receiver was based on the earlier M1 Garand rifle. The first AR-15 rifles were made in 1971, and they were known as the Model 10/11. These rifles used a different type of barrel called an A2 model barrel which had a bore size of .223 inches (5.56 mm). In 1977, Springfield Armory began manufacturing an upgraded version of the M1 Garand called the AR-10/11E3. This rifle used a new barrel called an A3 model barrel which had a bore size of .308 inches (6.68 mm). The designations for these different types of barrels varied depending on which state or country they were manufactured in. However, all versions of the AR-15 upper receivers are considered to be descended from the M1 Garand Upper Receiver that was manufactured by Springfield Armory between 1971 and 1977.

Pharr, Texas is a small town located in Midland County, Texas. The population was 2,521 at the 2010 census. It was founded by Anglo-Mexican settlers in 1849 and named for José de la Cruz Pharr. The town eventually became a part of Midland County. The first store in Pharr was built on Main Street in 1851. A post office was established in 1850, and the first school was built in 1852. In 1865, the Town Council designated a cemetery as the site of Pharr's first church. In 1889, Pharr saw its first professional football game when it played against Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dan McGloin from Richardson, Texas. In 1901, Pharr voted to annexation into Midland County and became a part of that county's community center district. In 1907, the town erected an impressive stone courthouse which still stands today (see photo). The building served as both the town hall and court house until 1951 when it was replaced by its current structure (see photo). In 1939, after World War II ended hostilities between America and Japan subsided following their victory over Germany at Pearl Harbor), American soldiers stationed at Fort Sam Houston discovered oil reserves near present day Pharr while conducting survey work on military installations throughout East Texas during Operation Highjump. After months of drilling operations and weeks of debate among local officials about whether or not to sell production rights to Texaco Inc., General George Smedley Butler approved plans for the creation of what would become known as "the Sam Houston Oil Field". By early 1941 much development had been accomplished with only foundations remaining; however large rigs were yet to be put into operation due to wartime restrictions on shipping oil products through international waters
Pharr is located in the Doña Ana County, Texas, area and was founded by Spanish colonists in 1807. The town site was donated by James Fenton to the Mexican government and it became part of the Alvarado Treaty of 1846. Pharr's growth as a commercial center began with its incorporation as a municipal district in 1907. In 1916, Pharr became a city and has since grown to become one of the largest cities in Doña Ana County.
