Pflugerville, Texas is a small town in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2000 census. Pflugerville is located on the border of Williamson and Travis Counties. The land that now makes up Pflugerville was first settled by Germans in 1847. In 1869, the town was organized as a post office with the name "Flaming Fork". It changed its name to "Pflugerville" in 1893 after local rancher Wm. Fenton purchased some land here for $5 per acre ($ today). The post office continued to be opened until it was discontinued in 1994 due to low mail volume. In 1920, Pflugerville became one of two towns in Williamson County (the other being Georgetown) to become agrarian-based community with a school system. This change came about as a result of an agreement between the county and William Jennings Bryan which provided for agricultural production within county boundaries for development purposes only; there would be no schools within these limits unless approved by county commissioners. On July 16, 1929, Pflugerville's incorporation as a city began when the legislature passed an act creating municipal corporations throughout Texas without consulting with residents or seeking their opinion; this act did not apply to rural counties such as Williamson County which were still operated by individual landowners. As part of this legislation, $2 per capita had been set aside for cityhood expenses and $3 per capita had been set aside for general government costs associated with running municipal corporations; this money was eventually used to establish public library systems and other services unavailable through central government institutions at that time such as ambulance service or libraries. On December 3rd of that year, voters ratified a referendum approval giving city status to PFLUGERVILLE-DELTA SPRINGS! Incorporation into City Hall finally happened on January 9th 1930! PFLUGERVILLE-DELTA SPRINGS has experienced many changes over the years including annexation into Round Rock (now Austin) in 1974 followed by another annexation back into Round Rock in 1984 and then Hendersonville in 1997 before finally becoming its own municipality once again on November 17th 2003!
