The first post office in Pflugerville was opened on April 15, 1886 by Lusia Hochschildt and Julius Kuhlbach. In 1907, Jens Vogt became the first elected mayor of PFLUGERVILLE; he served two terms from 1907 to 1911 and 1917 to 1921. In 1916, John Wiens donated land for a high school which would eventually become Austin-Round Rock High School (later Austin Independent School District). In 1925, Driscoll Bros., merchants who operated a general store on Main Street in downtown PFLUGERVILLE began selling candy bars called Cotton candy bars because they were popularized by Harry S Truman during his presidential campaign that year (Truman had been endorsed by Driscoll Bros.). The name stuck and since then it has been used as the mailing address for all types of candy products from Miniature golf courses to softball games! On October 10th 1970 local resident Don Heineman set off an inferno inside a gas station near Georgetown while working there as a clerk; this led to one of Texas' most memorable fires! Atop an old tireTop storage container filled with gasoline cans and paper cups containing flammable liquids sat Heineman when he lit it – resulting in $1 million dollars worth of damage! As a result of this fire several businesses closed up shop temporarily throughout 1971 including Heineman's former employer Stiles & Hastings Chevrolet dealership which sustained over 20% loss due to destroyed equipment and $200 thousand dollars worth of losses from merchandise not sold because customers could no longer get good deals on goods because they were out of stock at other stores also located within few miles radius.. In early January 2008 local residents placed notices around town soliciting donations towards fund raisers for Clear Creek Regional Medical Center - one day before its closure due to budget cuts gouged from its funding source identified as Medicaid reimbursement fraudulently funneled into state coffers through private insurers like Blue Cross/Blue Shield - setting off alarm bells across North Texas about healthcare affordability headed our way if unchecked!.
