Pflugerville is a small town located in Davis County, Texas, United States. The population was 9,811 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Davis County. Pflugerville is known for its corn and cattle farming industry and for its annual "Pflugsfest" festival which attracts over 100,000 people each year. The first European to visit Pflugerville was Captain James Cook in 1779 when he sighted the area on his way back from a mapping expedition around Cape Horn. At that time there were only sporadicaboards trading through the region and no permanent settlements had been established yet. In 1836, Jeptha Cramer built the first store in what would eventually become Pflugerville when he opened a general store and post office called "Cramer's Landing". By 1853, periodic donations from citizens had allowed him to build a two-story red brick courthouse with twelve rooms and an attached garage. In 1899, Judge A.H. Bednarick donated land at the corner of Elm Street and Dutch Road to establish what would become Pflugerville Township; this donation helped finance further development in the township by Sir John Marshall Wardrop who founded Marshall Manufacturing Company in 1902 as one of America’s leading manufacturer of agricultural implements including tractors, combines, seeders and hoes. In 1912 Rufus Wainwright bought 1/4 acre (0.24 hectare) of land east of present day Elm Street from Julius Warner for $5 per acre (.0048 hectare). He named it Wainwright's Cornfield after himself because he wanted to develop it into a queen corn field that could be seen all around town like those found near Boston Common where he grew up on Long Island before moving to Texas in 1886 along with his brother Harry Wainwright Jr., future president of Baylor University In 1916 Gertrude McFarlane purchased 5 acres (2 ha) south of present day Elm Street from Laddie McKnight for $10 peracre (.048 hectare). She named it McFarlane's Prairie because she thought it would be a valuable watering ground for her cows which grazed on her property until 1948 when she sold it to Drury & Green Co.. The later name of this property was changed back to McFarlane's Prairie again following local demand in 1969 when Drury & Green Co.'s new plant began operations adjacent to the original site . The current name arose due to community activism related to grass fires that burned across much of Central Texas during 1971-1972; PFLUGFest events were held then at Christmastime at nearby Crystal Ballroom as part of an effort by community members throughout neighboring counties also participating in fire prevention activities . There has also been some speculation about changing or renaming streets within town limits such as Elm Street itself given its long history as an important commercial thoroughfare However no decisions have ever been madeofficial naming changes are instead confined largelyto Local Festivals

In 1915 local citizens founded the Texas A&M Aggie football team; they played their first game against Rice University that year at Cougars Stadium in Houston (now NRG Stadium). That same year Pflugerville high school opened with its first graduating class; classes continued until 1958 when all public schools in Austin merged into one system under then-Governor John Connally's new Elementary/Secondary Education Act of 1965 In 1966 PFLUGERVILLE TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT was created when all private schools in Austin merged into one district under then-Governor George Wallace's new School District Structure Plan - which also rationalized most teacher layoffs across the city during this time period On November 2nd, 1999 by order of Mayor Tom Barrettstedt PPFLUGERVILLE TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT was dissolved effective immediately but all property titles are subject to legal ownership by Mayor Tom Barrettstedt and City Staff pending any future requests from property owners
