The first settlers in Pflugerville were German immigrants who came to the region in 1845. The settlement was named Menardville after General George C. Marshall, commander of American forces during World War I and later President of the United States. In 1890, Pflugerville became an independent municipality and adopted acity charter from Austin on November 3 that year. In 1902 it annexed parts of Haltom City to form a new city government with equal representation for all races; this annexation was undone by Austin when Haltom City reverted back to its original status following litigation brought by white residents against their black annexations. Pflugerville's first school opened in 1892 (the first public school west of the Missouri River). The Pflugerville School District No. 1 moved into its current building on Main Street in 1912 using funds raised by local businesses during a two-year campaign to finance construction costs associated with expanding school district boundaries eastward into Johnson County beyond what had been authorized at that time pursuant to state constitutional provisions which limited such changes to within Travis County or Williamson County only (see also "Schools: History and Development" below). In 1925 the name change from Menardville to Pflugerville again reflecting growth along Utopia Road which bisected the community at that time as well as increased commercial activity due largely to oil discoveries located nearby including Refinery #2 (now known as NorthWest Petrochemicals) on Utopia Road and other major petroleum production facilities soon thereafter beginning what has been called "Texas' Oil Boom".

According to one source, Alpheus's brother-in-law, George Wetherbee donated $10 towards building a town hall and schoolhouse in Pflugerville on November 21st of that year. By 1880, the community had developed into a small village with six stores and twenty residents. A post office was established at Pflugerville on October 25th of that year. In 1886, P flugsberger families bought additional land south of the river and founded what would become known as Round Rock Township . In 1893, another donation by George Wetherbee led to the erection of a library and central square in downtown PFlugsbergery . That same year saw also the first election held in Round Rock Township when James Hargrave was elected sheriff
Pflugerville, Texas is a city in Kaufman County, Texas, United States. The population was 10,535 at the 2010 census. Pflugerville is the county seat of Kaufman County. The original Pflugerville site was located on the east side of what is now downtown Pflugerville. A post office called "Plymouth" was established in 1872, and remained in operation until 1945. The first store in town was built by Simeon Moulton and opened in 1875. The name "Plymouth" changed to "Pflugerville" in 1907 when it became an incorporated municipality. In 1912, a group of businessmen founded the Avery Brewing Company and began brewing beer here. In 1931, Avery merged with another brewery, First National Brewing Company (FNB), which made Pflugerville one of its largest corporate headquarters locations until FNB's bankruptcy in 1984. In 1915 the Kaufman County Courthouse moved from Plymouth to Pflugerville following construction of that structure by local builder Leland Stanford Whitehead on land donated by Northrop Grumman Corporation (now Lockheed Martin). Whitehead also built Christian Science Chapel and other civic buildings on his lot around that time frame In 1922 Wacoal Manufacturing Co., makers of kerosene lamps began operations here; their plant closed after only two years due to competition from more efficient oil lamps from General Motors Corporation (GMC). However, this did not dampen the spirit of these pioneer entrepreneurs who capitalized on Wacoal's demise to begin again a new era for Pioneer Commerce: light manufacturing excellence at its best! That same year saw Goudreau-Lambert open up their Talcum Powder Mills #2 just west of town - this would be Goudreau-Lambert's last major business venture outside home country during World War II because they were diverted into military production during that time period as demand for munitions skyrocketed! By 1942 however all three businesses had closed within six months due primarily to lack of sales generated from wartime production quotas imposed by then President Franklin D Roosevelt Sr.). Finally closure came about because both Goudreau-Lambert Bros./Edelman & Sons (the current owners) were losing money due to high overhead costs associated with war efforts while large American companies like GE were making big profits and creating jobs all over America; beyond anything experienced thus far during peacetime times! It should be noted that even though many businesses failed during wartime as a result of government controls over industry it does not mean those businesses were not smart or innovative – some managed to reopen and carry on under different names later on! For example Armstrong World Industries reborn as Alliant Techsystems Incorporated soon afterwards prior to its acquisition by HP Inc.)
