The original location was a small lot on Elm Street just north of I-10 and it only held 12 rounds. In 1924, a new site was purchased at 3508 Fairbanks Avenue and by 1928 the range had become a six handicap facility. On July 1st, 1929 Red Dot Sight opened its first pistol division with twelve rifles and six handguns for $1,000 per division. In 1935 Red Dot Sight moved to its current location on White Oak Drive which became their home from 1936 until their move to their current location in 1961. At this time they announced that they would no longer sell pistols but would continue to offer rifle and handgun classes as well as ranges for trap shooting, skeet shooting and sporting clays. In 1966 the company changed hands multiple times before ending up being bought by Hornady Firearms Corporation who continued to operate it until 2002 when it was sold back to Red Dot Sight who reopened the business in 2006 with a new headquarters located on White Oak Drive once again. Today Red Dot Sight is one of the largest manufacturers of red dot sights in North America with over 200 models available across both rifles and handguns. They continue to offer training courses as well as ranges for all sorts of events including airsoft tournaments, hunting competitions and even professional Shootout events.
