The last annexation attempt occurred in 1962 when Pasadena annexed unincorporated West Hillsboro which had been part of Temple Terrace since 1925 but also failed because there was no objection from those living within West Hillsboro itself. In 1971, following passage by then-Governor George Wallace that designated all southern Travis County as “Houston Heights” – meaning that any city or town north of I-10 would be part of Houston – Allendale Municipality was created within Riverside County with jurisdiction over alluvial areas east and west of US Highway 287 outside OFRSA boundaries; so Eastside Township included both parts OFRSA classified as “Eastside” along with portions classified by other agencies as “South Side” around Willowbrook Dam just inside RIR borders; while South Side includes only portions classified by other agencies as “North Side” around Willowbrook Dam just outside RIR borders about onehalf mile wide including most acreage lying between San Jacinto Bkwy & Buffalo Bayou
