Gun sights, also known as shooting sights, are devices that allow shooters to visually locate and target their shots. There are a variety of different types of sights available on the market today, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. One of the earliest types of gun sights was a crosshair sight. A crosshair sight consisted of an adjustable iron or plastic frame that allowed the shooter to fine-tune the aiming position by moving it up or down (along the vertical axis). This type of sight was used in early muzzleloaders, such as the Model 1851 rifle. A later type of firearm Sight called a MILITARY TARGET SIGHT became popular in World War II because it permitted artillery officers to engage targets at close range without having to rely on eye dominance or guesswork. These sights were designed around an objective lens which would allow soldiers on either side to see and aim simultaneously using common technology. Today’s military target sighting systems use computerized models which provide accurate illustrations on large screens for troops all over the battlefield. The first pistols utilizing modern firearms manufacturing processes were created during World War I by George Weisbrod and John Browning. The two men developed a new system for sighting pistols called “Militaire Target Sight” which utilized simple lenses and adjustable turrets to place rounds precisely on bullseye targets located at various distances from the pistol grip line. The Militaire Target Sight proved itselfduring World War I when American forces engaged German forces near Arras, France in April 1918. The Germans were surprised by how well American units had managed to breach their lines with little notice while they were concentrating their efforts elsewhere; this led directly to American victory against Germany

In 1875, a group of men from Pasadena, Texas began the first rifle sights in the Lone Star State. The rifles were made by John P. Brown and Sons, and they were known as the "Pasadena Rifle sights." These sights consisted of a set of circles that lined up with each other on an aiming circle, providing target acquisition for shooters.
Pasadena, Texas is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the seat of Pasadena County. As of the 2010 census, its population was 535,814. The city is part of the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area and is included in the Houston-Brazoria-Galveston Combined Statistical Area. A year later, June Austin purchased land adjacent to Commercial Street for $1 million from Phineas Gage Tucker and built his home at 624 N San Jacinto Street on what would become Post Oak Boulevard. In 1837, two brothers named John Fenton opened a general store at 4th & Dry Creek Streets before moving it to their current location at 706 N Main Street in 1856. Two years later, post office officials established an office at 624 N Main Street because there were no buildings available nearer than that spot for use as a county courthouse.—Post oak being then known as "the Grove." In 1865, Pasadena was annexed by Galveston County; however, it remained an independent municipality until 1912 when it became one of three cities withinHouston's new municipal boundaries (the others being Houston and Galveston). At that time it had a population of only 2,500 residents because most residents lived withinHouston City limits.– The growth ofHouston made possible by annexation has resulted in Pasadena's rapid growth over the past hundred years: today its population exceeds 535,000 residents.– Today’s city center was founded by developers who saw opportunity where little else did: during the late 1800s development quickly transformed this once little-known corner lot into one of Houston’s wealthiest neighborhoods.– From Market Square to Rice Road – bounded on one side by Interstate 610 traffic congestion caused by heavy oil industry production –development through downtown streetscape transformation has created opportunities for pedestrians to explore historic homes while motorists enjoy easy access to world class shopping options.– This process began with streetcars running down Main Street between Rice Road and Commerce Center; as streetcar ridership increased so did development alongMainStreet.: By 1907 automobiles had replaced horse power as the primary means of transportation throughout muchWesternHarrisCounty.,andpasadenabecamean importanttransportationhub.; In 1916 Pasadena experienced its first tornado outbreak which damaged or destroyed several homes but never killed any citizens

On July 14, 1876, the US Patent 4,855, provisional patent for a telescopic sight was filed by Samuel Winchester. The patent was later to be granted to Winchester on November 3, 1879. This telescopic sight was initially used by American riflemen in World War I and II.

In 1871, Pasadena was named after the Spanish word for "city of palaces." It was a small town then with just over a hundred residents. The first post office in Pasadena was opened in 1879. By 1886, the population had grown to 2,500 and by 1912 it had reached 5,000. In 1915, Pasadena became an independent city and appointed its own mayor and council. During World War II, Pasadena served as Headquarters for the United States Army Air Forces in Texas. After the war ended, the city experienced rapid growth with an influx of immigrants from all over Latin America who founded businesses and residences in downtown Pasadena. In 1960, when California gained statehood, Pasadena became part of Los Angeles County.
