Pasadena, Texas is a small town located in the Brazos Valley in El Paso County, Texas, United States. The population of Pasadena was estimated at 27,000 as of the 2000 census. Pasadena is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and has been situated on the east side of El Paso since before its incorporation as a municipality in 1907. The municipal boundary passed through what are now Downtown Pasadena and Highland Park on the west side of downtown and current Midtown Pasadena on that eastern edge. The first people to live in what is now Pasadena were Anglo Aztecs who arrived there about 1,500 years ago. They were followed by Mexicans who came from Zacatecas about 1800 A.D., and then by Anglo settlers from East Texas in 1836. In 1907, when Pasadena was incorporated as a municipality it had a population of only 4 residents; today it has over 27,000 residents! The original town site was along the San Gabriel River which borders present-day Midtown Pasadena on one flank and Downtown Pasadena on the other flank with Commerce Row between them - this area is now known as Old Town Pasadena. From its early days as an agricultural community (early pioneers raised cotton), Art Deco architecture dominated most aspects of life in nearby Hollywood until World War II when Los Angeles took control and began to build new neighborhoods around it instead. After World War II many artists fled to Hollywood Hills or North Hollywood because they could not find homes anywhere else within range of their talent or equipment available outside Los Angeles proper - this resulted in much architectural "elaboration" taking place away from public view inside city limits! As movie production moved into newer quarters outside Lunenburg Drive after WWII (mainly due to Interstate 5), much older buildings became dilapidated or abandoned while more recent structures were built up around them – this created another layer of deterioration that still affects grand old structures such as Art Deco movie palaces today! However even these decadent examples cannot detract from how valuable an important civic center such as Art Deco shopping streets like Flower Street have become for local businesses: several well-known retailers (including Macy's department store) have been located here since before World War II! Even Sears Roebuck & Co., once one of America's largest manufacturing companies headquartered in Chicago but closed down after 1945 due primarily to antitrust problems within American industry overall, left some legacy products behind including an impressive collection of Sears Kenmore appliances still being sold door-to-door throughout Southern California today! This "Sears House" building is also home to two significant collection areas for Mexican art - one contains over 150 objects dating back to 1915 while the other features over 100 pieces dating back to 1971!!!
