Paris, Texas is an unincorporated community located in Grimes County, Texas, United States. The population was 946 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The community site was surveyed in 1881 by J.D. Harmon and named for Paris, France. A post office operated at Paris from 1881 to 1902; it was moved to its present location in 1903. The first business in town was a grocery store built by Wm. Hargrave and Bros., which closed in 1914. One of the most notable residents of Paris during its early years was Drayton Chaffin, who served as county judge from 1888 until his death in 1912. He also helped found the town's newspaper, "The Grimes County Herald", which continued publication until it merged with another local paper in 1951. Other prominent citizens of the early days include Mrs. John Ladd (1863-1922), Mrs. Carrie Cochran (1868-1939), Mr . Geo Fenton (1869-1945), Wm Merritt (bachelor) (1871-1934), and Willis Suggs (born 1873). In 1915 French prisoners of war were brought over to help build a munitions plant near Paris and soon after many businesses opened up around the plant including a restaurant and bar called "The Grapes". In 1944 pecan pie became an iconic dish here after being created at a nearby peanut butter factory by two men from Napoleonville, Louisiana who had married native Texans Abigail Greer Peck and James Ewing Peck Jr.. After World War II many people left for various reasons such asjobs or other opportunities available outside of Texas but some locals still live here today like Judge Chaffin's grandson Darnell Chaffin III who has lived here since he was born on October 12th 2006

Paris, Texas is a small town in the southwestern corner of Texas. The population was 439 at the 2000 census and 521 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Amarillo, TX metropolitan area. Paris was founded by Mormons in 1874 as a rancho near present-day Haskell Junction. The two main businesses in town are Barnes & Noble (originally called "The Bookstore") and Red Lobster. In 1911, when Paris was first established, it had just one store and no school. In 1951, the Paris School District was formed and began to build a new school building on Main Street. To date, that building has been home to most of the district's schools including Paris High School (now Ardent Christian Academy), Prairie View A&M University-Kingsville Campus, Lamar Community College-Lamar Annex/Lower Arlington Campus, and East Central Texas State University-Dallas Campus. In addition to its education offerings, Paris also enjoys a number of cultural attractions which include an annual arts festival features traditional French bread making demonstrations from local bakeries; monthly meetings of the Paris Rotary Club; antique car show each month at Dallas' Joe Romevarra Auctioneer's Gallery; classical music concerts every other month at White Sands Park located adjacent to town; art shows throughout the year at various galleries in town; walking tours available for all visitors each week during business hours; and fireworks displays nightly over downtown Dallas after dark!
Paris, Texas was founded in 1848 by the French and American forces during the Mexican-American War. The town was named for Paris, France after General Antonio López de Santa Anna's successful campaign to drive the Americans out of Mexico. The town quickly grew into a small farming community with a population of about 100 people. In 1860, Paris became the seat of Dallas County when it was created from parts of Tarrant and Comanche counties. In 1865, Paris became part of the new United States territorial government following the US victory in the Mexican-American War. The town continued to grow rapidly and by 1870 had a population of 2,500 people. By 1880, Paris had become an important commercial center with a variety of businesses including stores, hotels and grain elevators. The city also developed into a popular tourist destination with its beautiful architecture and interesting historical landmarks. The once vibrant Paris declined in popularity after World War II due to its high crime rates and decline in business opportunities. However, some residents have preserved portions of their downtown while redeveloping other areas for housing and commercial purposes. Today,Paris is still an important cultural center in nearby Dallas with multiple theaters and restaurants located within walking distance as well as several museums including the African American Museum at 15th Street & Cedar Creek Avenue which is home to one of Texas' largest collection of slave art
