When the first Americans arrived in Paris, Texas in 1836 they were not alone. There was a group of Native Americans who had also come to this area seeking new land and opportunity. The land that now makes up Paris, Texas was purchased by the United States government in 1853 from the Comanche people. The town of Paris was named after General James Hogg, who fought in the Mexican-American War and was an important figure in U.S. Expansion into Mexico. After the war, Hogg turned his attention to developing trade routes into Central America and South America through what is now Los Angeles County. One of his contributions to France was building a road across the country that connected San Francisco with New Orleans and then on to Mexico City. In 1850, Paris became part of Texas when it became a state following the US Civil War. During Reconstruction period (1865-1915), many African American men worked as sharecroppers or farm laborers in Paris until their rights were finally granted by law at the end of that time period. Today, there are several businesses located in downtownParis which include: Brasserie des Armes de la République (which serves French cuisine), Barrio Latino Café (a Latinobarbecue restaurant), Boulangerie Jacques Pepin (a bakery) and Petit L’Etang Les Halles Market Place - home to several small shops which offer local produce and artisanal items such as cheese, eggs, breads etc., making it one of the most flavorful markets around!

In 1886, J.C.Penney opened his first store in Paris. He began selling firearms and ammunition to customers from across the state of Texas. This led to more businesses opening up within the city limits, which made it easier for residents to find what they needed when hunting or shooting guns. By 1907, there were 24 businesses withinradius of downtown Paris with an annual sales volume greater than $2 million! By 1920, there were 50 businesses withinradius of downtownParis with an annual sales volume greater than $10 million! Today, downtown is home to a variety of business owners including restaurants, clothing stores, and small retailers who contribute much to the economic stability of this vibrant cityscape!
Paris, Texas is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,719 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Paris was founded in 1881 by J.H. Paris and his wife Fannie Payton as a cotton plantation on the banks of the Trinity River. In 1907, J.H.'s son-in-law Harry Ladd purchased the land from J.H., renaming it Paris Landing after himself and his family's homeport of Liverpool, England before moving to France in 1916 to continue farming there with his father-in-law's family until he died in 1941. Paris Landing became an agricultural community with cooperatives that raised cotton and corn for local markets; many residents still remain involved in agriculture today as farmers or managers of their own farms or estates In 1935, when Hudspeth County was created out of portions of Dallas and Fort Worth counties, Paris Landing became one of its first townships which included all or part of present day Arlington Heights (northwest side), Flower Mound (southwest side), Mesquite (east side), Plano (northern edge) and Richardson (western edge). A post office called "Paris" was established at what is now Park Boulevard in Flower Mound on November 8, 1881; it was discontinued operation on December 12th due to low volumes On July 15th 1902 Hargrave Bros., Merchants Tailors opened a store at 504 Main Street which would become known as "The French Shop". It closed October 14th 1957 due to business consolidation into other stores downtown . On January 11th 1912 Mrs A & P White opened a grocery store at 706 Elmira Road near what is now Schroeder Middle School . This store operated until 1954 when it closed because citizens were Shopping more locally Mrs A & P White reopened her store again on October 1st 1955 under the name "White's Grocery". The current building date back to this time

Paris, Texas is located in the heart of the Lone Star State and has a rich history dating back to its founding as an agricultural colony in 1845. The town was named after the French city of Paris, which at that time was the largest city in Europe. The town’s growth began in the early 20th century when oil exploration began nearby and businesses sprang up to provide employment for local residents. In 1924, Paris became a municipality and until recently it functioned as a bedroom community for Dallas while still remaining within the boundaries of Fort Worth. The area now known as Paris was first settled by Germans who arrived during the mid-19th century. By 1915, English-speaking Texans had also come to live there and ranchers followed soon afterwards. A small school was built in 1916 on North Lamar Street near present day Baylor University and many improvements were made to it over time including: a new roof, addition of classrooms and a garage. In 1918, Paris got its own Post Office which remain operational today. In 1935, when Fort Worth annexed much of Dallas County, parts of Paris were included within its boundaries. Growth continued throughout World War II with several businesses opening up in what is now downtown including: Purdy’s Barbecue (now Red Lobster), Lumberyard Supply Company (now Lowe’s), United Steelworkers Local 902 (now Home Depot) and Flowers ‘n Fruits Supermarkets chain (now Kroger). After the war ended things slowed down but not before several businesses closed their doors such as Continental Hairdressers Incorporated (later JCPenney) along with Paper Plate Furniture Store #2 which operated from 1948-1976 before closing entirely due to problems with asbestos exposure. When Fort Worth reincorporated its entire county in 1959, portions of Paris again became part of its boundaries although they have never achieved anything like significant levels of economic development like those experienced throughout most of their history within their current borders! Today there are only a few remnant buildings from old times left scattered around downtown while most people have moved on or disappeared completely since then! A number of events have taken place throughout recent years that have helped bring life back into these streets once more however; notably; Hurricane Harvey caused some damage to downtown property but has also brought new life into areas such as Whitney Avenue where restaurants reopened following damage done by previous storms; PARIS HALL – home to many art galleries & exhibitions through outtx.,serving up delicious food items all week long during parishallopensweekend;and finally;Stratosphere Tower opened fully occupied by luxury hotel chains this past summer just eastof DowntownDowntown
