Pampa, Texas is a small town located in the US state of Texas. The population was 793 as of the 2010 census. Pampa is known for its cotton farming and livestock grazing. It is also home to the Pampa Open Air Museum, which contains an exposition on early American ranching techniques. The first Europeans to visit Pampa were Spanish explorers who passed through in 1519. In 1836, Mexican General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna founded the town of Pampa on a secluded ridge about east of Austin on what is now Uvalde County. Eager to establish his new province south of Mexico City, Santa Anna made haste to build up his force at Pampa, where he took up residence and began organizing settlers into ranches and families that would continue his policy of ruthless land acquisition. By 1840, over 4,000 Mexicans had set down roots in Pampa and by 1850 it had grown into a vibrant agricultural center with more than 1,500 residents. In 1851-1852 Major John Atherton explored west Texas for prospectors seeking rich gold mines; after failing to find any promising sites within miles of Pampa he turned back but continued exploring further north along the Llano Estacado until he reached what became modern day Amarillo approximately northeast of Pampa on 20 August 1851 while travelling from Wichita Falls, TX (the original capital ofancoastal region) across Bexar County towards San Antonio de Bexar (present day El Paso). Upon reaching Amarillo Atherton submitted a claim for Rancho Buenavista which eventually became part of Alamo Heights neighborhood in San Antonio near Presidio Square; however this story does not begin with Atherton's arrival but rather with Mission San Diego de Alcala's conversion from padre Francisco Solano's cathedral property into an mission church in 1758 following years of effort by Father José Altuve who served as pastor there from 1754-1759 AD under Governor Fernando Ruiz y Guzmán . In 1853 Atherton again explored west Texas when Captain George Crockett organized and led an expedition along Clear Fork River valley looking for oilfields potential properties including those at present day Midland or Odessa although no wells were found Crockett believed there must be oil buried under ground so returned home without developing any claims Although no oil was discovered during this period later hydraulic fracturing began operations at Permian Basin fields resulting in huge economic development worldwide

Pampa, Texas is a town in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 724 at the 2010 census. Pampa is part of the Midland Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Pampa was Isaac Newcomb, who arrived on July 24, 1836. He and his family were among the earliest settlers in the area that would later become Midland County. Newcomb named his new community after a place in Spain he had been to as a child. Newcomb's son-in-law James Fenton also settled here in 1836 and built the first store and home near present day Pampa Boulevard and Elm Street. Fenton was one of the original incorporators of Midland County and served as its first sheriff from 1837 to 1840. Fenton's wife Betsy (née Cook) founded a school district which included most of modern Pampa Township with its current location east of I-10 on FM 446 (now US 281). In 1840, Fenton donated land for what would become Baylor University School District #2 which included much of present day Midland County including Pampa Township. The university has since grown into one oflargest universities in Texas with more than 100 colleges and schools within its walls! In 1847, Chinese immigrants started arriving to this area seeking labor opportunities during the California Gold Rush era; they called themselves "the Hualapais." When hostilities broke out between Mexican Americaand American forces not long afterwards there werevarious forms of transportation available for these various groups including stagecoaches through Indian Territory then through Central Kansas before finally reaching Chihuahua by wayof Brownsville via San Antonio de Bexar on November 20th 1850! By 1865 over 120 Chinese men had been imported into this territory alone! A few years prior some businessmen had realized that it could be done to bring water carryover supplies downriver from Cedar Creek thence upriver toMidland City where they could be transported by barge or ship across Lake Texoma before being trucked ashore for distribution – an early formof logistics known today as shipping! One such businessman was John Lubbock who along with others developed what is now Riverbend Center Mall adjacent to Interstate 10 exit 253 south just outside our city limits – an early exampleof suburban development!! In 1870 entrepreneur Elisha Hunt opened an agricultural implements dealership here which grew into Hunt Implement Company until it merged with Richards Manufacturing Company in 1984; both companies remain headquartered here today! A year earlier Gussie Lambert had opened her restaurant La Vita Italiano located at Tenth Street & Main Avenue serving Italian cuisine until it closed down operations circa 1975!!! Today you can find remnants of her ovens still inside her building providing evidence that Gussie really did know how to bake!!!
Pampa, Texas was settled in 1836 by the American Party of Texas. The town developed around a Mission San Antonio de Padua, founded in 1719. Pampa became an important trade center for cattle and horses during the late 1800s and early 1900s. The town was destroyed by a fire in 1936 that left over 100 dead.
