This allowed for more businesses to be opened in downtown Pampa and also helped increase housing prices which led to more people moving into the town. However, during World War II many of these businesses closed due to wartime rationing and lack of available labor; however some have been reopened since then such as The Dogpatch restaurant which has been open for over 50 years.
