Red Dot Sight History in Orange, Texas began with the opening of the first gun shop in the town on October 1, 1911. The store was run by G. Vernon Howell and his son-in-law W.H. Brownell and sold rifles, shotguns, pistols, ammunition and other sporting goods. The guns were all made by contractor George Aiken who also manufactured sights for Winchester rifles and revolvers at his home in nearby Dallas. The first red dot sight was a 5x50mm RWS available from Brownells for $175US when it went on sale in 1924. This scope had a duplex reticle that could be moved to any position within its range using an Allen keyed knob located around the edge of the glass coverings which protected it from scratches or damage during use. It became popular with law enforcement agencies throughout Texas because its simple design allowed officers to quickly find their target without having to fumble through a cluttered inventory or try to rely on printouts provided by criminals or suspects. Orange, Texas is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the seat of Harper County. The population was 2,895 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston–Sugar Land metropolitan area. The first settler in Orange was Michael Crain who arrived in 1836. The town was founded by Captain John Sweeny and his wife, Margarita, on land grants they received from President Sam Houston. Orange grew rapidly due to its location on two major transportation routes - the Santa Fe Trail and US- 83 - which helped it become a center for cattle drives and mineral exploration during the mid-19th century. In 1859, Captain John Sweeny donated 80 acres (28 hectares) to Trinity College for use as a teaching farm; orange trees were grown there until 1911 when college admissions merged with Baptist University to form Rice University. In 1872, Oscar Biddle established an electric company that became First National Electric Railroad Company (FENR). FENR built a line from Orange into Houston serving as an early commercial transportation artery linkingHouston with Galveston Bayou and nearby counties such as Brazoria and Harris County . Shortly after its creation FENR merged with Gulf railroad company to form Gulf+First Railway Company (GFL). GFL began operating mainline passenger trains between Galveston Bayou south of downtown Houston and Corpus Christi along I-10 West before turning around northbound on I-610 then continuing east on I-45 all the way to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport . On July 1, 1948 First National Electric Railroad Company merged into Gulf+First Railway Company becoming Gulf Railroad Company Incorporated & Alabama Corporation Passenger Train Operating Corporation Limited

In 1886 after Santa Anna's death Houston became governor and bought out all Jesse O'Neill's shares for $100,000 dollars making him one of America's richest landowners ever before he became a Texan politician! Orange was founded by Captain James Fenton on October 15th 1853 as part of his effort to bring irrigation to the area that had been mostly unproductive due to lack of rainfall or lack of access to water resources. When Fenton arrived he found only about 10 people living there including his own family and six animals! He started building a log cabin that still stands today on what is now Main Street near junction with FM 1623 called The Brick House which served as his home until 1863 when he donated it to the townspeople as a school building! This event symbolized how Irvine would grow into one of America's most important agricultural communities! One hundred years ago On July 25th 1916 Orange recorded its first tornado outbreak when two tornadoes hit just minutes apart killing one person and injuring over 50 people! The townsfolk were so rattled by this powerful storm that they decided not to rebuild until AFTER THE STORM had passed! Sadly this was not always true as many Tornadoes struck within weeks afterwards!! In 1928 Sheriff Roy Barnes set up his law enforcement office here originally known as the Sheriff’s Office Annex but later changed it because it was too close to other law enforcement offices in Houston!!! Barnes played an instrumental role in developing law enforcement capabilities throughout Harris County during these early years and continues to serve our community faithfully today!!!
