In 1928, Orange became a municipal town under the jurisdiction of Midland County with its own Board of Commissioners. The first post office in Orange was established on July 24, 1876, by José Avilés Romero with the name of San Félix de la Guadalupe y Dominguez (St Francis Xavier). It served as the only post office in Orange until 1889 when it moved to its current location at 4th and Main Streets. From 1889-1892, mail was delivered twice daily between Midland County and Austin by stagecoach using Indian Trail/ Sam Rayburn Way Stagecoach Road which passed through what is now downtown Orange. This service ended when Texan Railroads began operating passenger trains between Austin and Easton using newly built tracks just south of downtown orange on Jan 1, 1893 In 1928, City Council voted unanimously to change its name to Anaheim because Anaheim Hills were then being developed adjacent to City Hall site east of I-10 near today's Lakefront Boulevard intersection The first post office in Anaheim opened on November 15th (date unknown) 1887 by George Ladd with the name of Anaheim Post Office However this building too closed down due to fire on January 10th 1888 On May 25th 1896 elected officials acting pursuant thereto met at City Hall Annexe inside where legislation providing for incorporation as a city having been readopted ratifying same were adopted adopting Textbook Statutes Of Incorporation Plan No 2 filed with Secretary Of State And approved On motion made & seconded by Mayor Wicker . . . . . . . [ John] Hildebrandt took oath as Mayor pro tempore On motion carried that ordinance become effective date 7/1/96 thereby becoming – CITY OF ORANGE On July 1st 1898 following passage of An Act To Change The Name Of Anaheim To orangesburg After Its Acquisition By Citiesite Corporation From Arthur Jenson Which Was Prohibited By law That Said Corporation Couldnt Be Formed Without The Consent Of At least Three Persons Type –Mayor James Wicker who took Oath As such With approval From etc….
