Some of the first binoculars were invented in 1839 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and his partner, Pierre-Simon Laplace. The construction of such a device was much more difficult back then than it is today, so early prototypes were not very successful. However, between 1841 and 1847, Conte and Laplace developed several improvements to their design that eventually led to the modern binocular. The first practical binoculars were made from glass or plastic lenses with a metal housing. The lenses could be rotated around an axis that allowed them to be oriented horizontally or vertically. By the 1840s, many people had purchasedbinoculars for themselves as well as for use at court or on business trips. The popularity of binoculars continued to increase through the 1860s and 1870s as new technologies emerged including photography and motion pictures. However, during this time period there was also a growing trend among some society members to restrict access to such powerful tools due to fears they would be used by criminals or other unscrupulous individuals. This restriction led to the development of improved eyeglasses in the late 1800’s that helped improve see distances up close while still allowing users greater viewing flexibility across all orientations. By 1902, almost all major nations had signed onto the International Meridian Conference which aimed to create an international standard for time measurements. At this conference, representatives from over fifty countries came together in Switzerland to discuss ways of creating a commonly accepted means for measuring time using optical devices rather than physical measures like watches and clocks. After several months of deliberations, representatives from twelve nations finally agreed upon a model called “Zeropoint” which relied on both eyes being able To track change in position simultaneously (it was later replaced with Greenwich Mean Time). This event marks one significant milestone in Binocular history where international agreements became important instead of relying on local custom/rules/instruments/observatories etc

In 1845, the Republic of Texas was founded by a group of Texans who had traveled to Mexico City to petition for independence. The Mexican government refused to recognize the new state and instead declared it an Imperial Province. This caused a series of revolts against the Mexican government in Texas, which culminated in the Battle of San Jacinto on July 21, 1846. Afterward, Texan General Sam Houston led a force into Mexico City to claim victory and establish the Republic of Texas as an autonomous state. Odessa was founded by members of the Houston family in 1872 as a dry goods trading post on the Red River near present-day Odessa. It served as the local port for farmers and traders travelling between Texas and Mexico until Donnelly & O'Leary built their steamship terminal at Odessa in 1907. The town's growth came primarily from its status as a shipping point for cottonseed shipments destined for New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana. In 1930, Odessa voters passed a resolution declaring themselves "the Birthplace of Communism." The town experienced rapid growth during World War II when war production increased demand for goods shipped through Odessa routes such as oil products and munitions. However, after 1945 Odessa began to decline due to economic sanctions imposed by America over Korea and Cuba. In 1970, it lost its status as an industrial center when Soviet Union closed down many nearby plants
