North Richland Hills is a city in Dallas County, Texas, United States. The population was 61,041 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. North Richland Hills is located within the Dallas-Fort Worth Independent School District. The first people to live in what is now North Richland Hills were Native Americans who were here before European settlement. There are several theories as to how and when it started being called North Richland Hills. One theory suggests that it was given its name because of hills that can be found near the community and they thought it would make for a good name for a place where "the people from Richardson" could live close together. Another theory suggests that when developers began looking for land to build homes on in 1926, they noticed an area that appeared to be well-suited for development and named this spot NorthRichlandHills after seeing what others had done with similar land elsewhere in the city limits. The first buildings were built on this site in 1928 and by 1931, there were over 20 buildings total on this site including six schools and twelve businesses. In 1937, north Richland Hills had a population of just under 10,000 people which continued to grow until 1945 when World War II caused many residents to leave town for military duty or other reasons. When hostilities ended, many of these soldiers brought their families back home and resumed their normal lives as townspeople did not return until 1949 when another war led to increased demand for housing among returning servicemen and women as well as new migrants from Latin America living in the Red River Valley region surrounding Dallas. This influx of people led to more than doubling the population of North Richlands by 1955; however, growth stopped again around 1970 due largely to falling birth rates among East Asian Americans living outside of Japan although some migration still occurs today (mostly Japanese) due primarily to jobs available in downtown Dallas

North Richland Hills is a town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,596 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. North Richland Hills was founded in 1892 by John H. Caldwell and his brother-in-law, Wm. Clementse, on land that became known as Caldwell Rancho Seco. It was located about 10 miles (16 km) east of downtown Austin and about 12 miles (19 km) north of Round Rock on the Dallas-Austin Corridor. The first post office in North Richland Hills was established in 1892 and remained open until it closed in 1907. The first store opened in 1906 and the first school opened in 1909. The town took its name from Caldwell Rancho Seco, which it named for its founder, John H. Caldwell Sr., and his brother-in-law, William Clementse Jr.. The ranch included 6500 acres (2116 ha), including present day North Richland Hills proper and much of what is now nearby Slaughtertown Road/Highway 183). In 1916 the Ulysses S Grant Presidential Library & Museum were built onsite within the boundaries of what is now North Richland Hills High School; they remain today one of only a few presidential libraries operating outside Washington D.C.. In 1934 Hollywood producer Harry Cohn bought 1/3 interest in the original Griffith brothers' movie studio located adjacent to Slaughtertown Road/Highway 183 with plans to create an all-American films industry center outside LA Cohn's investment led to production expansions at North American Film Corporation's studios across Northern California before he died in 1979; these eventually led to Universal Studios Hollywood forming as a result of their purchase . North Richland Hills experienced rapid growth following World War II due to war plant construction local businesses such as Ford Motor Company plants being constructed throughout Hudspeth County . Between 1945 and 1960 over 50% of all new housing development occurred within 1 mile (1 km) of any commercial or industrial establishment; this included many subdivisions developed by businessmen Eddy Boggs through KB Homebuilders Incorporated . In 1957 Greater Heights Development Co., Ltd./Greater Heights Housing Corp./Greater Heights Shopping Centeropened along Slaughtertown Road with shopping mall developments continuing into the 1990s ; this also served as early examples of highrise suburban living while still providing access to central arterial streets
