Smith of Company K, 4th Kansas Infantry, designed a rifle that could shoot projectiles up to 100 yards. This rifle was called the “Tippecanoe” and was used by soldiers during the American Civil War. In 1871, Colonel John A. Logan of Company K, 3rd Missouri Cavalry decided to use bullets instead of grenades for his cavalry regiment’s war diary entry: July 9th: Our battery took part in an engagement with a rebel force near Corinth; killed three rebels with shot on horseback and one with a grenade. Killed two more rebels with balls through their bodies while they were making their escape … Captured four prisoners who informed us that they had been shooting at Confederate troops from behind trees all day long without being discovered by them until we came upon them; these men then made up their minds not to fight any longer and confessed that they knew nothing about using grenades or firearms…. In 1902, Captain Edward G. Smith founded what is now North Richland Hills National Laboratory (NRHL). NRHL is responsible for developing new ballistic technologies and providing world-class research services toThe United States government and industry. NRHL also operates The James Boren Institute for Nonproliferation Studies (JBIISS), which conducts important research on nuclear weapons proliferation and arms control issues worldwide. The Naginato projectile was created at JBIISS by Dr Hiroshi Amano in 1959 as a result of work done at NRHL under the guidance of Dr Gabor Matonai…. On November 6 of that year,Dallas County Senior High/Richardson Education Foundation IntermediateSchool District #2 became an independently operated high school district called Dallas Counties SeniorHigh/Richmond Education Foundation High Schools Incorporated which is now known as North Texas Junior Colleges
North Richland Hills is a town in Dallas County, Texas, United States. The population was 31,569 at the 2010 census. North Richland Hills is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first settler in what would become North Richland Hills was John Warrick who arrived in 1837. A post office was founded in 1838, and by 1840 there were few residents remaining due to gold rushes taking place nearby. By 1860 there were only six households left in the town. That year it incorporated as a city and remained so until 1952 when it became a municipality within the current Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area

The town of North Richland Hills was founded in the early 1800s. The first settler, John Dickson, arrived in 1821 and developed what is now the town. In 1829, he married Anna Maria Scott and moved to the modern day city of Dallas. John Dickson's death in 1831 left his land and business to his wife and son-in-law, Alexander McDermott. They subdivided the land and founded a small farming community called "Dicksonville." In 1865, A.J. McCloy bought all of the remaining lands from Alexander McDermott for $2,500 cash. McCloy renamed North Richland Hills after his father-in-law's home state, Nebraska. He built a two-story wooden house on a parcel of land that included what is now Highland Park Elementary School and later named Prairie View A&M University after its founder, James Braidwood Pemberton (a headmaster at Prairie View). McCloy died in 1929 and is buried at Oak Lawn Cemetery near Dallas with his wife Annie J., their children Forrest Fenton McCloy Jr., Clyde Everett McCloy III,, Florence Ballard Pemberton Neelyand Jack Abramoff III.. His daughter Alice also married George Hirschman who donated most of Arlington Cemetery to Dallas in 1928
