The land that makes up North Richland Hills was first settled by farmers in 1859. By 1880, many wealthy Texans had bought property hereabouts and began to build mansions and large estates. In 1924 the City of North Richland Hills was incorporated with a population of about 100 people. According to the 2008 UBS World Cities Studyreleased by world banking giant UBS on behalf of its clients worldwide – “Dallas/Ft Worth has emerged not only as one of America’s most important cities but also one with great potential for growth” - North Richland Hills may soon become an even more prominent community thanks to its rapid development over recent decades . With plans underway for a major mixed-use project known as "Prairie Crossing" northwest of downtownDallas – expected completion by 2021 - it seems very likely that North Richland Hills will continueto be home to some powerful business communities while Arlington Heights rapidly becomes a bedroom community for wealthier citizens
