Both businesses were started by Mr. John Ahern and Mrs. Margaret Ahern and both businesses used a variety of lasers including rifle lasers, pistols, shotguns, machine guns and even a few mortars! Laser Guns continued to be used during World War II but were replaced by rayguns because they lacked the range needed for accurate fire at long distances. New Braunfels is located on the Brazos River near its confluence with the Colorado River. The first recorded mention of what is now New Braunfels was in 1810 when it was part of Spanish Mission San Antonio de Bexar. In 1846, John Cretz bought land east of present-day downtown New Braunfels from José Antonio Castro for $1,000USD and started building what would become known as "the Town Hall". The cornerstone was laid on July 3rd, 1847 and construction continued until May 6th, 1850 due to financial difficulties brought about by Mexican War fever then raging throughout much of North America. On October 14th 1860 – just days after American Civil War ended – Confederate General Robert E Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House in Virginia; this event marked the end of hostilities between Confederate States and Great Britain & Ireland (commonly referred to as The Confederacy). 2 years later on December 12th 1862 - during Reconstruction - New Braunfel voted yes on annexation by Houston County; this vote signaled an end to Reconstruction in Texas which followed after Union victory over Confederate forces at Antietam Creek three months earlier that year. By 1870, cattle ranching had replaced slavery as oneof town's main industries contributing up to 50%of economic output according to local historian Don Loyd Payne On January 1st 1907 - less than two years after gaining city status - Mayor Harry Swayne dedicated City Hall Annexation Park within current day Old Town boundaries following passage by City Council minutes advertising "$500 per annum tax increase" contingent upon donation or purchase by local fire department or other public entity having jurisdiction within said park area As mentioned before – growth along Waller Street accelerated during prohibition era due numerous saloons closing down abruptly without warning while liquor sales increased leading many drinkers/producers moving out westward looking for more affordable prices & opportunities however some old timers& residents kept their businesses open even though prohibitionistechnology became increasingly difficult (& expensive)to maintain prior to1920 During Prohibition period drinking establishments were commonly raided resulting in several arrests & convictions including Bubba Smith who managed Tooele Brewery until 1924 when he closed shop due largely to high enforcement costs associated with Prohibition
