What is the history of Nederland, Texas? The first permanent European settler in what is now Texas was Dutchman Hendrik Vansina in 1769. Today, much like its Dutch namesake (though without any dairy exports), Nederland has strong ties to its past with a rich history that ranges from agriculture to trade to politics - all weighing into its present day economy and culture.
