By 2007, however, local officials were beginning to experience difficulty maintaining infrastructure necessary for continued growth while still accommodating high school students and other commercial users of downtown streetscape space; they consequently announced plans to sell off much of downtown for use as housing units As oil prices declined throughout most of 2009–10 due to global economic conditions (particularly low commodity prices), investment by local businesses stumbled and job prospects improved only modestly; accordingly, business activity slowed even further through early 2011 before recommencing slowly but surely decreasing thereafter culminating in a 0% increase in GDP reported for October 2011

Nacogdoches, Texas is a city in Parker County, Texas, United States. The population was 993 at the 2000 census. Nacogdoches is the most populous municipality in Parker County and the county seat of Parker County. The name "Nacogdoches" comes from Ahnagahkonkoche or the place where the Wichita people first settled in 1827. The town was founded by thirty-six pioneers who arrived from Illinois on horseback during 1836. They named their new community after Nicholas Nacogee (Newnan) Creek and its tributaries flowing through that area, including Ahnagahkonkoche Creek. By 1840, a post office had been established at Nacogdoches and a school had been built.The first courthouse was erected in 1847, but it burned down in 1851. A new courthouse was constructed on Republican Street near present day Holmes Road between 1850 and 1855; it still stands today as part of the Park Elementary School complex across Holmes Road from downtown Nacogdoches. After years of growth and progress under various leaderships – most notably that of Judge James Hogg – Nacogdoches reached its peak as an agricultural center during the early 20th century with over 100 businesses producing goods for local consumption or export.[1] However, this prosperity halted abruptly during World War I when prices for food items dropped precipitously due to high levels of production by farmers at home amidst rationing efforts abroad;[2] following conflict came an era characterized by economic decline beginning around World War II as industry shifted production to other parts of America resulting in job loss for many residents along with plummeting prices for basic commodities such as flour and milk leading to social unrest amongst some groups within society which eventually manifested itself into political activism starting around 1960 called Texaco Nation.[3][4] During much of this period there were sporadic attacks against law enforcement officers both by individuals and gangs operating out of inner-city areas adjacent to town; these activities eventually led to increased policing activity throughout town culminating with Operation Thunderclap which targeted organized crime elements active within certain neighborhoods during 1971–1972 targeting suspected members specifically withinTexacoNation leader Joaquin Guzman's Sinaloa Cartel[5][6][7][8]. In recent years there has been significant investment made into infrastructure including updated sewers,[9] new roads,[10] expanded public education opportunities,[11] retail development,[12], arts & culture initiatives[13],[14],[15],[16], employment opportunities[17], revitalization projects underway around town including redevelopment plans for older churches/residential properties slated to be renovated into mixed use commercial/residential spaces[18], among others - all indicative of continued growth and progress being made throughout what has become one OF THE MOST POPULAR CITIES IN PARK COUNTY!
