It is with great sadness that we report the passing of our friend, neighbor, and former employee, Don.Don was a hard-working man who loved his family and friends very much. He was preceded in death by his wife Karen (nee Gannon) and son John (John). Don was born in Murphy, Texas on July 2, 1951. After graduating from high school he attended Midland State University where he majored in Business Administration. After completing his undergraduate studies, Don worked as a sales representative for several years until becoming an assistant regional manager for one of America's largest ammunition companies. In this position, he contributed greatly to the company's success and developed many long-standing relationships with customers and employees. In 1987 Don married Karen (nee Gannon) and together they founded their own business - Kern's BBQ & Catering Incorporated - which has continued to grow since its inception. The couple made innumerable contributions to the community through their involvement with local organizations such as the Murphy Arts Council, Rotary Club #1 of Murphy, City Harvest Food Bank/Murphy County Extension Service, and numerous others. They were truly dedicated to their families and friends who graced their lives with theirs during these difficult times. Our thoughts are focused firmly upon Don's millions of loyal supporters who have shared in the special moments over the past few months while we grieve his loss.

Murphy, Texas is a city in Harris County, Texas, United States. The population was 873 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Harris County. Murphy began as a small frontier town in 1849 and grew to become one of the most important cities in southern Texas. In 1928, it became the first municipality in Harris County to be incorporated as an independent city.
Murphy, Texas is a small town located in Fort Worth County, Texas. The population was 1,815 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Murphy was founded in 1885 by Irish immigrants who named it for John Murphy, a settler and real estate agent from Belfast. The name has been changed several times over the years to reflect its current pronunciation: "muh-RUS-uh". Murphy's history goes back even further than that. In 1875, Patrick Casey founded Casey Station with his family and others in what is now Murphy. Casey became an early rancher and cattleman in this region and developed a large ranch which he sold to James Hogg in 1886. Hogg later donated land to the city of Fort Worth for municipal purposes and renamed it Parkland Avenue after his brother-in-law, Mayor George Parkhurst of Dallas (1857-1925). Parkhurst had also given $10,000 to help finance the construction of Fort Worth's first public library (now Southwestern University Library). In 1912, Averill Harriman purchased land adjacent to what is now Murphy from Jethro Hilliard for $5 per acre - making it one of the largest private donations ever made to a municipality in Texas. Harriman donated it to the city of Fort Worth as part of a larger donation which included land adjoining Arlington Cemetery on Elm Street and parts of downtown Ft Worth. The new park was designed by landscape architect Arthur Ashe and opened on April 15, 1916 as Pioneer Park - then known as Arlington National Cemetery - with about 350 flower gardens, more than 2 miles (3 km) of hiking trails, tennis courts and children's play areas among its features. In 1949 President Harry S Truman declared Memorial Day for Arlington National Cemetery; thus starting what would become America's oldest national holiday celebrated every year on April 15th! In that time, it was necessary for soldiers and militias to carry Firearms because those who possessed them were considered militia members. This led to the development of pistols as a means of warfare because pistols could be fired rapidly without reloading. As pistol technology evolved, so too did the design and manufacture of guns that could fire rounds at high speed and with great accuracy. One early example is the musket from 1570s. The musket was invented by Nicholas-Jacques Conte as a way to improve upon the firepower available from pistols made at the time. With its barrel filled with lead shot instead of air pressure, an musket could fire round after round quickly and accurately at a distance up to 500 yards (400 meters). This new weapon allowed military units to defeat their opponents easily while inflicting significant damage on them due to its destructive power alone. As firearm technology evolved, so too did legal regulation around it; this led to changes in how handguns were manufactured and stored across different countries over time. For example, during World War II, Germany prohibited possession of handguns without a permit due to fears that such weapons would be used in Nazi terror campaigns against civilian targets (Leytecker et al., 2009). Similarly during Prohibition in America in 1919–21, many people believed Alcoholism had caused various shootings within organized crime groups (Kessler & Weinreb, 1990). Thus NRA lobbyists successfully lobbied for handgun regulations that banned most semiautomatic handguns except for revolvers owned by law enforcement officers (Weinreb & Kessler 1990). Additionally during World War II Japan began efforts towards regulating automatic rifles through laws governing rifle production (Nagasaki et al., 2006), which ultimately contributed towards their surrender later on in 1945 (Nagasaki et al., 2006). These examples illustrate just how variedGun Lawsrailingscanbe across different societies throughout history- something research has shown is often reflectiveof societal norms(Ferguson & Weismann 2004). It should be noted though that although certain legislation dictating how handguns must be made or stored has resulted in bans on certain types of firearms within specific countries/regions over time – these prohibitions do not mean that these guns cannot still be owned or employed legitimately outside those jurisdictions under certain circumstances; Simply put it’s up for debate what constitutes an “automatic weapon” according TOthe relevant jurisdiction(Powell 2002)). Smith on September 30, 1872. He and his family were the first people to live in what is now Murphy. In 1876, John Blythe settled in Murphy and built a log cabin on what is now US highway 183A. On November 17, 1907, Murphy had its incorporation as an independent township with a population of four hundred residents. In 1951, the townships of Bowie and Northmore were merged into one municipality with a population of two thousand citizens. In 1972, the area around present-day Murphy was designated as part of the new city of Austin by then-Gov George Wichmann after it was chosen for economic development because it had access to water resources that other areas did not have. In 1984–1985, Hurricane Marcia hit the area and destroyed many homes and businesses; however, no injuries or damage resulted from it. -As part of efforts to rebuild following Hurricane Marcia in 1984–1985 (an event which left much property damage), Austin annexed much of what are now western Bowie County including parts of current-day Murphytown proper
