Murphy who fought in the Mexican-American War and then served as a U.S. Representative from 1867 to 1871 and again from 1893 to 1897. The community first started off as a farming village with close to 100 residents in 1900; but by 1910 it had grown to around 150 people living in homes that ranged in size from two rooms to six or seven bedrooms each. In 1926 the citizens of Murphy formed their own school district which continues to operate today under the name "Murphy Consolidated School District". In 1957 Murphy began an experiment with electric lights that became known as "the Christmas Lights." For many years these lights have been an annual tradition at Christmas time for the entire town of Murphy including streets and businesses alike!

In 1951, it merged with Arlington to form the current municipality of Arlington Heights. The name comes from Marshal James Hennessey's description of Fort Worth as "a great big city without any limits." The land that now makes up Murphy was first occupied by Native Americans who were killed or captured during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). As settlers arrived here, they discovered rich oil and natural gas reserves which led to new industry being built in this region. The town site was chosen because it had an easily accessible water supply due to its location close to several major rivers, including the Trinity River. By 1870, Murphy had become one of the largest towns in Texas with over 5,000 residents! It continued to grow rapidly until 1910 when a severe drought destroyed much of country around it and forced many people out into neighboring states for food and shelter. In 1916, local resident Adolphus Bullock donated land adjacent to present day Texarkana for use as a military airfield used by World War I fighter pilots training at Eagle Pass Municipal Airport outside Dallas. This airport would later be renamed Texarkana Municipal Airport after Bullock’s donation; however, most people refer to Murphy as Texarkana today! After World War II ended and restrictions were placed on aviation due to Cold War security concerns, much of what madeTexarkana so attractive for aircraft development vanished with it! Nevertheless, some businesses continue operations at TXARK while others have relocated elsewhere withinTexarkana since then – making this airport still one of central points for aviation activity in Webb County!
