In 1865, Eastern Texas & Northwestern Arkansas Railroad built a line from Austin to Mount Pleasant, bringing firearms and ammunition to town. Beginning in 1870, Prescott Wolk started making rifles for local farmers and ranchers. By 1880, Prescott had become one of the largest rifle manufacturers in Texas. His company continued making rifles until 1903 when it merged with Winchester Arms Company to form Winchester Repeating Arms Company Limited (Winchester). In 1907-1912, Winchester absorbed much of Browning & Co., including all their rifle factory facilities inTX and NH In 1919-1920, Wesson Firearms Corporation was formed as a result of merger between Winchester Repeating Arms Company Limited (Winchester) and Remington Arms Company Incorporated (Remington). From 1920 through 1957 revolver production at Remington's Fort Worth plant subcontracted to Smith & Wesson Corporation subsidiary revolvers called Navarrese Armory Model 100s after Major General John Jervis Navarre who served as president of Remington from 1923 until his death on October 17th 1927; management responsibilities went to James Haughton Smith who became vice president within two years following Navarrese's death

Mount Pleasant is a small town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,564 at the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern border of Hudspeth County and State College Township. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The Mount Pleasant community began as a group of log cabins built by pioneers in 1876 near what is now Interstate 35 and Loop 410. A post office was established in Mount Pleasant in 1881, and a school was founded in 1886. The first store opened in 1907. In 1912, Mount Pleasant incorporated as a municipality. In 1951, the state legislature passed legislation creating Hudspeth County to include portions of Austin and Round Rock within its borders. As part of this process, Mountpleasant became one of five towns located within Hudspeth County that were not initially included within the new county boundaries. In 1963, when Interstate 35 was commissioned as part of Ted Kaczynski's Freeway Projections study, Route 2 (now I-35) became an important corridor through which motorists traveling east or west must pass before entering or exiting Hudspeth County; accordingly, many businesses relocated to nearby towns while those located east or west of I-35 closed their doors altogether. Consequently, much history took place around these communities during this time period - including some still being actively lived in today - although little exists about it for public consumption outside of occasional mentions from local reporters and historians who happen to beinterested in documenting such things annually during open houses that take place each year at various landmarks throughout the county courthouse complex where all sortsof historical artifacts are displayed from early pioneer days until current day examples along with ample opportunities forphotoops/selfie ops with assorted memorabilia).
