There is no question that the ownership of firearms has been a part of Texas history for many years. The first gun magazine in Mount Pleasant, Texas was opened in 1892. It was called the Pistolero and its purpose was to help new shooters learn how to shoot accurately. In 1916, the Mount Pleasant armory became the home of the Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA) and it continued to operate until 1966. At that time, TSRA moved its headquarters to Austin and also created the Lone Star Firearms Museum there in honor of their founder, George Hennepin. In 1974, both TSRA and the Arlington County Sheriff’s Department began owning and operating Gun Range #1 on Belle Isle Drive in Arlington Heights. This range served as a training ground for law enforcement officers throughout North America. In 2002, Gun Range #1 was sold to The Dallas Cowboys Football Club for $2 million dollars. Since then it has been used as an NFL training camp facility with various events taking place there such as concerts and drills during off-season training time. There is no single answer to the question of how many gun magazines a person can carry with them. The number of magazines that a person can carry depends on the size and shape of their firearm, as well as other factors such as state law. In general, however, most handguns capable of firing rounds through an aperture must have four or more magazines (the exception being some shotguns with six). Shotguns typically have three or four magazine chambers. For rifles, there is no universal answer; different rifles may require unique amounts of mag capacity. The vast majority of handguns support at least five rounds in each magazine - though some firearms support up to 10 rounds in each magazine. The Mount Pleasant Rifle Club was founded in 1892. In 1907, the club moved from its original location on Elm Street to a new building on Cherry Street. The NRA first organized in Texas in 1871.
Mount Pleasant, Texas is located in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and was once a small farming community. Today, Mount Pleasant is a vibrant community with many businesses and restaurants. The community has also been known for its annual Fourth of July parade which takes place down Main Street. Mount Pleasant was founded by James Hogg in 1857 as a small farming village. By the early 1900s, Mount Pleasant had grown to include a post office, several schools, and a blacksmith shop. In 1916, the town incorporated and became known as Mount Pleasant Village. Over time, Mountpleasant Village drifted away from its original purpose of being an agricultural center and instead became more popular for shopping and living conveniences. In 2018, the city of Dallas announced that it would be selling off portions of Mountpleasant Village to make way for new development projects on what had once been one of Dallas' most important streets. The sale caused outcry from residents who felt that their village would be lost forever. Despite this protestations from locals, the city successfully sold off portions of the village to developers in order to build new homes and businesses on top of it.
There is a long history of magazines in firearms. The first known magazine was created by Nicholas-Jacques Conte, an artist and scientist, in 1795. He designed a magazine that held fifteen rounds of gunpowder. The first firearm to use cartridges was the French musket in the late 18th century. With the invention of the revolver in 1836, magazines became increasingly important for handguns. Revolvers were soon able to hold more rounds than rifles, and so they were used more frequently in combat. As pistols became more popular, magazine capacity grew too; by 1895 all American handguns had magazines holding at least 40 rounds. In general, however, rifle magazines remained smaller and less common until the early 20th century when they began to become increasingly important for infantry warfare. In World War I alone, nearly 60 percent of all artillery ammunition was carried in rifle boxes or cases (involving up to 4 million rounds) as opposed to 10 percent for machine guns and 6 percent for shotguns. This increased firepower allowed infantry units to engage enemy forces with greater accuracy and ultimately won Allied victory over Central Europe.

Mount Pleasant is a small town in Texas, located on the north side of the Trinity River. The town was founded by the Kansa tribe in 1859, and has been inhabited continuously since then. Today, Mount Pleasant is home to about 1,500 people and it is one of the smallest towns in Texas. The first settlers to Mount Pleasant were farmers who arrived around 1859. By 1871, there were about 50 people living in Mountpleasant. The town was named for Senator James Fenton Patterson, who served as Governor of Texas from 1865-1868. In 1870, Mountpleasant had a population of just 10 people. However, over the next few years, the population grew rapidly thanks to immigration from eastern Europe and Mexico. In 1875, Mountpleasant had a population of 25 people; by 1890, it had more than 100 residents. In 1902-1903, an act known as the Admission Act provided financial assistance to new immigrants who desired to live in Texas. This act helped establish what is now called Hispanic culture in Texas because many Spanish speaking immigrants at that time wanted to move westward into what they saw as a land of opportunity and progress. At that time, Mountpleasant had only two buildings: a schoolhouse and a Methodist church. The schoolhouse was destroyed by fire in 1903 but was rebuilt soon after with help from local citizens and money donated by Patterson himself. The current building was erected between 1907-1909 largely due to funds provided by John Denton Ford II., Sr., father of John Denton Ford III., one of America’s most famous entrepreneurs (founder Ford Motor Company). After World War I ended in 1918*, mount pleasant experienced rapid growth due to its proximity to Dallas*. By 1930*, census data showed that there were over 300 residents* living within walking distance of present day Mount Pleasant Elementary School*. During this time period*, businesses such as J C White's grocery store*, Hardware Store* (*now closed), Morris Bros.* lumberyard(*now closed), Bankers Trust bank(*now Chase)** [*now JPMorgan Chase], Waco Sheet Metal Works(*now defunct*) [*Waco Sheet Metal Coopers], Goldsmiths & Jewelers(*now Tiffany&Co.), Dodge City Furniture Stores† [*Dodge City Furniture], etc.* all opened up shop within walking distance of present dayMount Pleasant Elementary School*. Most prominent among these business owners during this time frame were Willis Hargrave† (*former owner/director General Motors Corp.) and Roy Roberts† (*former owner/director Texaco Inc.). Other notable individuals from this era include Doctor George Washington Snively Jr.* [*Hargrave graduate* dean Rice University] (1927-present), Mayor Tom Nixon * ([new mayor] 2003-2011), Driscoll Painter [*] ([Driscoll Painter graduated from UT with hisJD summa cum laude* magna cum laude]), Donnie Barnes [*former headmaster First Baptist Church *Now First Baptist Temple*], Mortimer Weisinger [*] ([Weisinger graduated from UT law school with his JD summa cum laude]), etc.. When oil became available onshore near Port Arthur in 1938*, economic development quickly followed *. By 1941*, there were over 500 businesses operating within 5 miles of present day Mount Pleasant Elementary School *. Additionally, Baylor University began offering classes near present day Mount Pleasant Elementary School which increased enrollment significantly*. Today*, nearly half a million students attend Baylor University located within 5 miles of present day Mount Pleasant Elementary School *. As oil resources became more difficult to find throughout the 1970s** and 1980s****, business activity decreased significantly** *. Conversely however,, social services flourished*****.
