The Mount Pleasant Rifle and Pistol Club was formed in 1892. The club first met at the home of A. G. Hilliard, located on what is now Second Street in Mount Pleasant. The club moved to its current location in 1907, when it purchased a lot north of the courthouse on which it currently stands.
Mount Pleasant is a small town in the Texas Hill Country, about 25 miles northwest of Austin. The population was 5,542 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tyler-Brown County metropolitan area. The Mount Pleasant post office was established on October 15, 1881, and closed on December 31, 1984. Mount Pleasant's first settler was Levi Denton Jr., who came to the area in 1872 from Illinois. In 1875 William McKinney founded what would become Tyler School District #2. The school district moved from Mount Pleasant to Tyler in 1902. In 1907 Ernest Hines opened his general store in Mount Pleasant which became one of the largest in the area and lasted until 1967 when it closed down due to financial troubles. A new grocery store was built in 1961 by Donny Kline and Norma Kline, who were married that year. The store continued to be open until it burned down in 2001. A 4-story bank building also stood on this site for many years before being destroyed by fire in 2006. A new bank building has since been erected on the same plot and is now known as First Bank of Mount Pleasant (FBMP). The original MtPpleasant post office building still stands today as a museum annexe inside FBMP which offers exhibits about local history and culture available only to visitors with a current or former membership card from FBMP's predecessor company - Pemberton Paper Merchants Association Incorporated (PPMAI).

Mount Pleasant is a town in Live Oak County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. Mount Pleasant was founded by Scots-Irish settlers in 1836. It became a ghost town when the railroad bypassed it in 1857. The first settler arrived in 1836 and named his community "Mount Pleasant" after Mount Pleasant, Scotland. By 1840, several hundred people had settled there and erected the first stores and homes. A post office was established at Mountpleasant in 1840, but no mail reached the community until 1865 because of the routing of Route 66 through that county. In 1861, Union General Ulysses S. Grant passed through Live Oak County on his way to help suppress Confederate forces near Houston during the Civil War. As he drove past Mount Pleasant, residents gathered around their homes to watch him pass; they later built a small park in his honor on State Road 318 near present-day Parkview Cemetery. Although many residents left for various reasons during Reconstruction, some remained to rebuild what had been destroyed by the war and its aftermath. In 1924, when Interstate 20 was constructed concurrent with FM 925 east of town limits, much of what remains today of traditional farming country betweenLive Oak Lake and Cottonwood Creek were abandoned as developers platted new suburbs close to I-20 exits without consulting local officials or Heritage Preservation District members who controlled access to historic sites within MtPleasant limits (see 1920s map). However local opposition led to passage of an ordinance creating Heritage Conservation District which purchased over 2 square miles within present day downtown MtPleasant from developer's heirs for $1 million USD in 2006 with intent to preserve both physical AND cultural resources therein as part of an overall effort for Downtown revitalization throughout Live Oak County ( see Map ). A number of businesses have since reopened inside Historic District boundaries including boutiques from Old Town Clearwater mall across I-20 exit #411 south into downtown MtPleasant & northward along MLK Jr Blvd., restaurant choices such as El Pollo Loco & Carnitas Mexican Grill inside Eastside Mall off USHighway 25 just east of I-20 exit #422 & Juicebar Plus opposite Starbucks down University Dr., church services being held inside now defunct First Baptist Church located at corner Airport Rd/Hwy 377 EAST OF LIVEOak COUNTY LINE just west of SHowers gas station next door - all while most commercial buildings within Downtown area remain boarded up
Mount Pleasant is located in Webb County, Texas. The town was founded in 1872 by John C. Smith and the first post office was opened in 1875. The population of Mount Pleasant increased rapidly during the early years, with a school, a grocery store, and a hotel being built within five years. There were also many small businesses set up throughout the town, including a cotton gin and anlog mill. By 1903, Mount Pleasant had nearly 1000 residents and it had also become an important stop on the railroad system. During World War II, Mount Pleasant played an important role as a military base for the nearby Fort Worth Army Air Base. Today, Mountpleasant retains its original architecture and infrastructure, with several small businesses still operational in the town center. Additionally, there are now several large recreational facilities located within walking distance of the town proper- including a golf course and three ponds that offer fishing opportunities both fresh water and salt water products.
