The Mission Settlement date back to 1836 when Father José Gomez and his band of friars founded a mission in what is now San Antonio County. In 1845, Fr Nuñez opened up a second mission at San Fernando Valley which served as the religious center for the surrounding region. In 1896, Mexican nationals were relocated to this area following an agreement between President Grover Cleveland and Mexico's president Porfirio Diaz that provided for their assimilation into American society. As America's southern border grew more porous with constant infiltration by Mexicans seeking refuge and opportunity, Anglo citizens of Mission became increasingly restless with their lack of control over the town's affairs. By 1928, only 7 percent of Mission residents were Mexican-born while 98 percent were Anglo Americans who identified with their adopted country rather than Mexico or Spanish background. Mission experienced modest growth during its early years but eventually achieved national attention due to its unique architecture and landscape features that remain unchanged today. Many of these unique assets can be found within downtown San Antonio where many businesses still operate today including The Alamo Museum and Ballroom complex, El Paso Hotel & Casino, Chabad House synagogue and several churches including Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral and Corpus Christi Cathedral (a former cathedral). Notable landmarks also include Presidio Hill overlooking downtown San Antonio which once served as a military post; Missions Concepción y décimo (Concepción/Decimo) on Commerce Street south of Main Street; Coyote Hills Golf Course; Bob Hope Airport; Stonewall Jackson Park near Interstate 10 exit 287; as well as numerous homes dating from the late 1800s through present day throughout Midtown San Antonio! This vibrant community has helped make San Antonio one of Americas most popular tourist destinations along with Hearst Castle nearby providing ample opportunities for visitors to admire both artistry and history!

Mission, Texas is a small town located in Midland County in the U.S. state of Texas. It was founded by Spanish settlers in 1836 as Ibaque de las Flores (Ibague Springs). The name of the mission was changed to San Antonio del Valle de Santa Fe (San Antonio Mission) after Mexico gained independence from Spain in 1821. Mexican citizens were given land east of the Rio Grande in what is now Midland County and were allowed to build churches, schools, and other infrastructure there. The area became part of the United States following the Mexican-American War when General Manuel Diaz ceded it to America on February 14, 1846. In 1881, white men started working on a railroad through central Midland County and began buying parcels of land around Mission for development into what is today Mission TX. By 1893, Missions had become a thriving community with over 100 homes and businesses. Over time, missions have been destroyed or converted into other types of residences such as an convent and museum.
Mission was founded in 1824 by Franciscan missionaries. The mission grew rapidly and soon had an entire town built around it, including a church and school. The original Mission San Antonio de Bexar is now a national historic site.
