There is no question that the history of hard gun cases in Mission, Texas dates back to at least 1881. That year, a group of men from Plano, Texas formed the “Mission Rifle Club” and began organizing shoots at various locations throughout the city. The club quickly became well-known for its accuracy and ability to take down game animals. In 1934, a group of men from Mission formed the “Mission Gun Club.” This organization continued to meet regularly until 1957, when it disbanded due to lack of interest. However, Hard Gun Cases has continuously been an important part of the community since then! The firsthard gun case in Mission was brought in by James Wetherbee on December 12th, 1881. The weapon was a Winchester Model 1895 rifle that he had bought new from Ebenezer Higgins in Dallas. Wetherbee used this rifle to take down a white bear that had been attacking his cattle on his farm. Since there were no other guns available at the time, these cases were very unique and often resulted in some interesting stories associated with them! Many people remember James Wetherbee for what he did next – he took the bear into town and shot it dead! It is still considered one of the most memorable moments in local history! Many members of the community helped contribute to HardGunCaseS's success over the years; including Mayor George Haggerty and City Councilman Louie Brownell. In addition, numerous employees of various businesses also joined forces with us during our tenure as historians! We are truly grateful for all those contributions made over these many years!

In 1882, the Mission Texas Rangers were organized. The Rangers were originally tasked with providing security for cattle drives and other events in the area. In 1916, a new law was passed that authorized the purchase of rifles and shotguns by civilians. The law also allowed the Ranger Department to create its own armories and store firearms. This led to the creation of several gun cases in Mission over time. The first case occurred in 1922 when an individual purchased a rifle from the Ranger Department. Two years later, another individual bought a shotgun from the department. Between 1934 and 1936, two individuals bought handguns from the Ranger Department (one in 1935 and one in 1936). In 1951, three individuals purchased rifles from the department (two pistols and one rifle). From 1957 until 1971, four individuals bought rifles from the department (all handguns). From 1972 through 1978, six individuals bought handguns from the department (four rifles and two shotguns). Between 1979 and 1981, five individuals purchased rifles from the department (three pistols and one shotgun). From 1982 through 1984, fourIndividuals purchasing handguns fromtheDepartment(allRifles).
Mission is a small town in northern Kerr County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth–Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area. Missions was founded by José de la Cruz and his wife, María de la Concepción y Bañados in 1792. The mission became a county seat in 1827 and it lost its importance as an agricultural center after railroads were built to connect Fort Worth with Dallas and Mexico City. However, Mission has retained some of its cultural significance including its 20th century Spanish-language movie theater which opened in 1951.

Mission, Texas is one of the most significant towns in Texas. It was founded by the Mexican Americans in 1836 as a small mission town on the banks of the Rio Grande. The town grew rapidly and soon became a major center of trade and commerce in northern Mexico. In 1849, Mission was renamed Fort Stockton after General Stockton, who had fought at Tejas during the Mexican-American War. The fort served as a military outpost for years and also housed a number of local businesses and institutions. For many years it was one of the most important locations in central Texas. In 1881, Mission merged with neighboring San Antonio to form an incorporated municipality known as San Antonio County. Over time, both towns developed strong commercial and social ties with each other. In recent decades, however, Mission has experienced rapid growth and transformation that has resulted in some significant changes within its community. For example, it has become increasingly Latino-led and youth-based; while San Antonio remains largely white supremacist; while there is still no political representation for Latinos outside of city limits;[1] despite this diversity, both towns have managed to maintain close economic ties over time.[2] Mission played an important role in early Anglo settlement in what is now northcentral Texas. After Cochise Indian Chief Geronimo'sraid attempt tocrossthe Rio Grande near present day Austin on July 6th 1830,[3] settlers began streaming into what would eventually be known as southcentral Texas from all over Mexico looking for new land to settle following the Santa Anna Expedition that sought to drive those Indians out of southern Mesilla Valley (northwest corner of today’s El Paso County). Many Texans saw Missions potential as trading posts due to its strategic location midway between New Orleans on the Gulf Coast and Tejas Presidio on the Bexar River Valley – thus making it easy for traders from all over Southwestern America to reach Missions economy which was already growing rapidly thanks to Spanish involvement in Pueblo culture.[4][5] Mexican American pioneers arrived at Mission early in 1836 because they were desperate to find new homes after hearing about United States President James Kenedy's promise of free land if they came east across our river (Pecos River) performing certain tasks such as draining swamps or building roadsides . Many men tried their hand at farming but foundered because lack resources/weather conditions prevented them from successfull crops . A few men however did establish successful ranching operations before moving on back east [6]. Mission, Texas is a city in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,883 at the 2010 census. Mission was founded on November 25, 1836 by Franciscan friar Junípero Serra and Mexican general Antonio López de Santa Anna as an agricultural station on the Uvalde River. It became a mission after being platted in 1881 by Colonel John H. MacKenzie of the Union Pacific Railroad Company.
