Houstoun established midtownidency within Hudspeth County limits to serve settlers east of Midland Creek (now part of Terrell). In 1907, Don Carlos Perez purchased Kenedy Ranch from Waddell & Richardson cattle ranchers and laid out development around what is now Main Street (later State Highway 6) between Don Carlos' ranch house and East Market Street; this area became known as "Perez Park." Development continued until World War II when most missions were destroyed by fire or torn down by developers to make way for housing developments.; however some remain standing including Mission Dolores on Mission Road between US 281/US 287/IH 35W/TX 601 Business Loop (the old US 281), andMission Solano west of IH 35W across FM 191 from TX 161 Business Loop (the old US 287). The history of Mission can be traced back to 1845 when pioneer David Raney built his Rancho San Antonio de los Alamo south of present-day Mission on land that would later become part of what is now Collin County. The town was founded as a small ranching community with only 10 residents in 1845. Early pioneers were primarily farmers who raised livestock and grew wheat and potatoes for local consumption or sold them off to other ranchers across Texas. By 1850, mission had developed into a thriving commercial center with two hotel/motel buildings (the Hotel de las Americas and the Hotel Rincon) as well as several stores including Bakersfield’s First National Bank (founded in 1851). A year later, another store opened up on Main Street called “The Bella Union” after John Fetterman’swife who operated it until her death in 1865. Local merchant James Witherspoon soon built a sawmill on the Trinity River upstream from mission that provided much needed revenue for the nascent town. By 1863, mission had also annexed neighboring Potter County making it one of the earliest UTE school districts within Texas During World War II, missions served as an Ammunition dump for nearby Fort Worth following Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor,. As Axis forces bombed American cities such as New York City & Chicago throughout 1942-1945 (a campaign known collectively under the nickname "Bombadil"), manyimsy buildings like those located inside mission were destroyed or used for military purposes only sparingly or not at all due to lack of materials available elsewhere within central Texas . This left muchOfMissionuninhabitable until postwar reconstruction efforts began which led to new construction endeavors including intact architecture like original storefronts found insideHospitality district today .
