Mission, Texas (May 6, 1836) was a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas. The town was founded by the Mexican government as part of the Alamo campaign against the Texan forces defending San Antonio de Bexar. The Mexican-American War started on April 21, 1846 and ended on October 14, 1848. The mission had been established in 1830 but until that time it was known as San Fernando de las Flores.
