Bullets in Mission, Texas date back to the early 1800s. The first known bullet was fired in 1847 by a group of men under the command of Captain James Bowie during the Mexican-American War. The town of Mission was founded by Rancho San Antonio de Bexar (later renamed Missions Santa Anna and San Francisco) in 1797. For many years, bullets were used as ammunition for frontier revolvers. In 1846, General Sam Houston ordered all frontier military posts to become equipped with rifles and pistols, effective January 1, 1847. This led to the beginning of what is now known as "the Gun Culture." In 1865, a company of Volunteers from Mission citizens volunteered to help suppress a slave insurrection near Uvalde. It was their only successful mission and they lost many members in the process. In 1872, Rifleman John Sibley shot at an Apache bandit leader named Black Jack who had taken refuge among his people on nearby Hill Country Rancho de las Mesillas y la Laguna Sulpitos y Aguayo (later renamed Hill Country Ranch). The shot killed Black Jack and three other bandits before hittingched a ride back to Pecos with two horses while saving others along the way. This event became known as the shootout at Adobe Walls (now part of Fort Worth).

In 1850, Father Antonio García used his authority as bishop of Travis County to enable two more LDS families to settle in nearby Milam County; these families became known as "the García Brothers." From this moment on until 1870—when Mexican forces withdrew from South Texas—Mormon settlers operated outposts throughout much of central and southernTexas governed by Anglo mission directors with absolute independence from their bishops headquartered in Salt Lake City or Nauvoo despite religious beliefs that existed concurrently within Mormon and Catholic churches therein. Only following Mexico's entry into World War II didmissionary efforts resume earnestly across all of southwesternMexico where LDS Bishoprics now exist including Reynosa (Alta Veracruz) & Hermosillo (Nuevo León). hard work over many years culminated with our current Bishopric Structure established effective late 2007

Mission, Texas is a small town in the federal district of San Antonio, Texas. It was founded by pioneers in 1836 as the mission of San Fernando Rey de la Frontera. The name "Mission" means "place of worship." The first church was built in 1837 and the first school in 1840. In 1848 Mission became part of the United States and it has been its capital ever since. The people who founded Mission were one of the original groups that migrated to this area during the Mexican-American War. They were looking for land that would be accessible to them and their families. Their goal was to find a place where they could practice their faith without fear of persecution from Mexico or from other Native Americans living nearby. In 1850, when American settlers started arriving here, Mission had only 7 inhabitants. By 1861 it had grown to over 100 and by 1870 it had reached over 200 buildings!missionary work here continued despite California's gold rush which ended around 1849. After California became a state in 1850, there began an attempt by some Mormon leaders to move their church out of California into what is now Texas because they felt that God's plan for America included including all states within its borders (not just those east of the Mississippi River). However, this effort failed because many Texans felt that moving his group away from their home state would break up what they saw as an American dream - a country where everyone could be equal under law no matter how color he or she might be! Some residents decided to stay even after Californians started moving out; these people are sometimes called "oldtimers". In 1874 José María Arguelles arrived with his family and set up shop on Main Street near present-day UTSA University campus. This marks the beginning of Mexican settlement in this area as most Mexicans who came here prior to 1800 either worked on ranching or did clerical jobs for Anglo settlers before coming here specifically for business opportunities associated with Anglos being located so close together! Laws passed shortly thereafter establishing irrigation systems so farming became more viable along Hudspeth Creek which ran through both Missions and agriculture soon replaced stockraising as mainstay economic activity throughout much of West Texas region politicized water issues accompanying rapid population growth leading Pecos County westward comprehensive survey incorporating Hudspeth creek valley Cottonwood Canyon acreage irrigated crops cotton gin hand loom weaving etc., but certain activities such as cattle drives continue until well into Twentieth century
Mission del Rio (1795–1821) was a missions founded by Father José de Jesús Chávez in 1810 in present-day Texas. It was the second of two missions founded by Chávez, and is now a National Historic Landmark. The first mission, San Francisco de Jesus, was abandoned in 1749 after less than two weeks of operation due to Indian attacks. Mission San Antonio del Valle became the first Mexican mission built on the current site of Austin in 1787. The original mission complex included a convent, an official residence for priests and their families, and an outlying chapel known as La Casa Blanca.
