A store was built around 1900 and served as the center of town until 1908 when it burned down. A cotton gin followed in 1909 and also burned down in 1908. The first school opened in 1911 under the name of Miner's Mill School District No. 1. In 1924, Mineral Wells consolidated with neighboring towns of White Sands to form Hudspeth County Consolidated School District No. 2 which still operates today as part of Trinity City Independent School District #3 (TX). In 1951, Mineral Wells incorporation formed an educational district that currently includes all but one elementary school within its boundaries including Piney Woods Elementary School which opened in 1953; Birch Creek Middle/High School which began operations on September 24, 1958; Cabin Creek Intermediate/Secondary School which began operations on October 8th 1959; Hog Heaven Elementary/Secondary School which began operations on November 6th 1961; Summit State High Schools - North (grades 9-12), South (grades 11-12), East Side Academy(grades 7-9), West Side Academy(grades 10-12) - all located within its boundaries making it one of the most comprehensive educational districts serving rural Hudspeth County! Businesses sprang up around the town for transportation and trade. Railroads were also constructed in this period to bring goods and people closer to markets. Mining activities soon ceased as new technologies became available. However, Minerals Wells has continued to grow since it became an Estado de Mexico state on January 1, 1911
In 1836, Mineral Wells was founded by Austin and his family. The town rapidly developed and soon became a popular trading place for goods bringers and travelers. It also became the site of significant military engagements during the Mexican-American War. By 1859, Mineral Wells had become an important local center with a thriving business district. In that year, it was renamed Texarkana after the nearby Texarkana River. The town continued to grow in popularity until the early 1900s when oil exploration increased production in Texas, causing a decline in its population. Today, Mineral Wells is a small community located near Wichita Falls, TX
