In 1940, Midlothian annexed the neighboring village of White Sands and changed its name to White Sands Municipal Borough. On July 1, 1984, White Sands Municipal Borough merged with Midlothian to form Midlothian-White Sands Municipality. On January 1, 2006, this municipality merged with El Paso County to form El Paso County-Midland Municipality.
