Rifle stocks history in Midlothian, Texas began with the founding of Deer Branch Rifle and Pistol Club in 1911. The club met to shoot shotguns at a local park. The first rifle stock was built by Ed White and it was a .22 caliber shotgun stock. The first rifle that was purchased by the club was a Winchester Model 1892 “Big Boy” rifle. In 1912, the Deer Branch Rifle and Pistol Club moved to its current location on Midlothian Boulevard in Midlothian. That same year, they decided to build their own rifles and pistolsusing parts from other gun clubs memberships including the San Antonio Gun Club, Houston Gun Club, Fort Worth Gun Club, Dallas Gun Club and Austin Gun Club. From 1912-1916, the Deer Branch Rifle & PistolClub produced over 100 rifles and pistols using parts from other clubs memberships. In 1916, deer branch organized themselves into an individual club under the name Midlothian Rifles Incorporated (MRI). MRI became a registered trademark of Deer Branch Rifle & PistolClub in 1922; however they continued producing rifles and handguns under this title until being disbanded in 1934.
