As gun sights go, the Midland Rifle and Pistol Club’s (MRPC) new three-gun sight system is really something special. With a simple installation process and quick adjustment of the elevation settings, it allows shooters to hit targets with pinpoint accuracy from a variety of distances. The MRPC 3-gun sight system was designed by riflemen for riflemen and has been placed in use by NRA members throughout Texas since 1997. It is now available as an option on many rifles and shotguns sold in the Lone Star State. The first sighting device used on rifles was the “ringmount” type which resembled a modern iron sights but used a large metal ring to hold the magnification lens in place while fired. Rings were later replaced by mounts that could be attached to stocks or receivers using screws, threading them through drilled holes at different depths depending upon caliber. One early example of this type of mount can be found at Rancho San Antonio State Historical Park in nearby Austin, Texas where Confederate Gen. Pancho Villa checked out firearms there during his stay in 1907-1908. This particular mount features adjustable elevation (25 MOA), windage (3 MOA), brightness (5x), including astigmatism correction (1MOA) and comes complete with a tool kit for Adjustable Scope Mounting

Midland was founded in 1871 by John Hance and others as a cattle station on the Red River near present day Wichita Falls. In 1916, Midland opened its first post office, which served the community for 52 years until it closed in 1990. In that year, Midland annexed what is now the eastern portion of Wichita Falls. In recent years, much of downtown Midland has been renovated to compete with other large city cores within Texas and nationally.Midland's economy has changed little since it became a center for ranching and oil production in central Texas during the late 19th century; today its primary industries include manufacturing (including plastics), healthcare (healthcare products and services) and agriculture (poultry).
Gun sights are devices that allow a shooter to see the target against the background of his weapon. The earliest known gun sights were design by Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1795. They consisted of a bead and groove sighting device on an armillary sphere, which was placed on the barrel below the barrel band. These ancient sights were used by troops during the French Revolution and Napoleon's campaigns in Europe. In 1857, American Colonel George Armstrong Custer needed help to shoot an animal at a game preserve in Montana and designed what is now known as "Custer's Rifle." This rifle featured a metal sight with three posts that pointed down at a dot on the barrel. With this new sighting system, Custer could hit his target with pinpoint accuracy. America imported many of these early gunsights from Europe, including those made by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and George Armstrong Custer himself. By 1800, nearly all firearms had some form of adjustable rear stock or sight that allowed for different ranges of fire (i.e., short shot, medium shot, long shot). The first true rotary rifles were designed in 1887 by British gentleman Major John Browning using Patent No 74885 A2. This innovative rifle featured an enclosed rotating breechblock that permitted variable power firing without losing accuracy due to recoil motion backlash between rounds fired from same magazine clipfed weapon

In 1865, following Union victory over Confederate forces in the Battle of San Jacinto, Midland became an official U.S. territory.Midland has been through many changes since its founding; it has seen waves of immigrants arrive and depart, been known for cotton production (which continues to play a significant role in its economy today), and been host to several colleges and universities including Southern Methodist University (SMU) which is now one of America’s largest private universities.
The Midland area of Texas was first settled by Native Americans in the early 1800s. The Comanche and Kiowa Indian tribes were the original settlers in this region. After a period of Spanish colonization, Midland became part of the United States in 1821. The city of Midland was founded in 1836, and it remained its principal settlement until the mid-20th century. Midland experienced significant growth during World War II, with the city becoming one of the largest cottonproducing communities in Texas. However, the city's prosperity ended after the war and it has seen little major growth since then.
