Gun lights have been a part of Midland, Texas for some time. The first gun light was installed on a farm near the present day town of Midland in 1876. It was an early type of electric flashlight that used a battery to power it. The use of gun lights spread quickly throughout the region and soon they were common sights in many small towns and villages. Gun lights continued to be popular until the late 1800s when batteries became less common and they were replaced by kerosene lamps. In 1902, Midland began selling oil lamps which allowed them to remain popular until the early 1920s when electric gunsights became more common. Gun lights slowly disappeared from our area after that, but they continue to be remembered fondly by many people who enjoy visiting Midland today!

The first gun lights in Midland, Texas were mounted on horseback by the sheriff's department in 1892. The first handguns were also mounted on horseback, but these were not effective at night. The first Municipal Outdoor Pistol Range was located in Midland in 1917. In 1934, Midland became the second city to have a Municipal Gun Licensing program. This program allowed citizens to buy and carry pistols without having to go through a dealer or waiting period.
Midland is a city in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,611 at the 2010 census. Midland is located on the south bank of the Brazos River and straddles the border of Midland County to Brownsville on the north. The Brazos River forms part of its eastern border. The area that would become Midland was first settled by American Indians in 1795 and was named after General James Hogg, who fought for Spain in their War of 1812. In 1835, land east of Midland on the Brazos River was donated to the State of Texas by John Crain and others as part of what became known as "The Donation Land Act". The area now encompassed by Midland had a population of about 350 people when it became a municipality in 1870. By 1900, there were over 5,000 residents within its borders. In 1876, two brothers named George Waco founded what would become Waco Oil Field (later Waco Refining Company) in present-day Springtown Township northwest of downtown Midland. They began production from an oil well they had drilled near where Springtown High School now stands. Over time other companies followed suit with similar rigs and operations until all but one major oil field had been developed in this region during World War II – Baylor Petroleum Company's Eagle Ford Formation campground just outside town limits today - making it one of only four U.S., or "progressive" Western states without an active military industry at war (along with Hawaii and Oregon). As post-war economic development took hold across much portions of Texas and Oklahoma City began to fill up with new workers seeking opportunities high in pay while also enjoying community amenities such as schools and parks not available to them elsewhere (the so-called "Great Migration"), many Texans decided to move into what would soon be known as "Midlanders." Despite being initially rural counties strongholds never seeing more than 10%density growth between 1930 and 1970 (!), over time rapidly developing suburban areas started creeping into unincorporated parts or even downright incorporated municipalities like Midland proper - often displacing small businesses that could no longer compete against larger local establishments; most notably Goodyear Tire & Rubber which closed its doors for good following yearslong negotiations over layoffs dating back to early 1980s when company president Don Gardiner refused single offers for his assets from several potential successors under pressure from management determined not only to stay open but give his employees some dignity too despite long hours/low pay rates; finally yielding after protracted legal challenges led by then city councilman Herb Weisman who represented much older portionof town along riverfront opposite Goodyear plant before later becoming mayor) . This process has continued unabated throughout last 40 years resulting increasingly large percentage(s)ofMidlanders living within urban boundaries ever since - including those now occupying vacated buildings around main business district .... Midland, Texas is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas. Midland was founded by George Russell in 1847 as a small outpost on the Red River, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) downstream from Austin. By 1860, Midland had become one of the most important settlements in land east of the Rio Grande. The town grew rapidly during the 19th century and reached its peak in population around 1900-1910. However, due to numerous factors including railroad development and rapid population growth, Midland experienced significant decline by 1920. Today, Midland is an economically depressed city with a slumped social status that has been struggling to rebound since 2006. Prior to its establishment as a town, George Russell surveyed what is now Midland County on November 2, 1847 while he was visiting Nacogdoches County under orders from President James Kenedy following his victory over Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna at San Jacinto Valley on October 9th of that year. On July 10th, 1849 when Russel arrived at Fort Sam Houston he learned about potential for settlement along Red River south of Nacogdoches Creek because of abundant saltpeter and mineral rights claims available there from Gabriel Montoya and José Bustamante respectively; these claims were confirmed by Mexican authorities two months later on August 25th when Mexico awarded Rancho Brazoria to Carlos María Angleton for services rendered during the Mexican–American War (1848). In December 1850 Russel sold 640 acres (250 hectares) southeast of present day Midlothian to three partners: Samuel Morse & Brothers (owner/operator), John Witherspoon & Bros., and Nicholas Hickson for $5 per acre ($60 total value). This initial grant included all or part of present-day Anahuac Parish (now Dallas), Henderson County (later named Johnson County), Bowie County (later renamed Montgomery County), Wattenburg County (later named Haskell County) and parts of Caldwell and Gregg Counties today’s Wichita Falls metropolitan area; it also included what is now McLennan Center City within Anahuac Parish boundaries today! It should be noted that only 1/3rdacre or less was ever patented which explains why so few homes were built in Early Settlers community! In January 1851 Russel met with members from Austin’s First Baptist Church who informed him that they would like him to establish a church near them – Russel did not take their request seriously but sent back word that he would “establish himself where he pleased”! Three days later Russel burned down his original house northeast of downtown Austin after becoming frustrated with local officials response time when seeking ecclesiastical endorsement for his proposed new settlement. He soon realized this route would bisect much larger then present day Midlothian so he chose instead to establish himself northwest of present day Georgetown whereupon he set up shop behind what is now Palo Alto High School building! A new house was built within two weeks using salvaged materials from earlier destroyed buildings along South Lamar Street just northwest of downtown Austin! By early September 1851 Russel had established himself northwest of Georgetown With help from his friends Samuel Morse & Brothers (& others)Russell began selling goods such as flour, cattle & beans direct to residents east side Of Red River Valley through stagecoaches across LBJ Freeway

The city of Midland was founded in 1881 and is the county seat of Lubbock County. Texarkana, Arkansas, is the only other city within Texas that has been given this designation.
