Midland, Texas is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 254 at the 2010 census. Midland is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area and is included within the Dallas-Fort Worth–Arlington, TX Combined Statistical Area. The first European settlement in what would become Midland was by traders from Spain in 1836. In 1847, Midland became a county seat of Biblical County when that county was organized from parts of Medina and Hidalgo counties. The territorial legislature designated Midland as the permanent seat of government on March 3, 1851, following its incorporation as a city by an act of the legislature. On December 1, 1915, Midland became a town after it passed an act to that effect by vote of both houses of the local legislature. As a result, it has been one incorporated municipality since then without interruption—a streak that began with its predecessor as an unincorporated community and continues today with only occasional annexations or changes in boundaries due to population growth or other events affecting adjacent municipalities within Travis County (Houston’s largest metropolitan area). At present there are three inhabited areas located insideMidland's limits: Ensley Park east of downtown; Longview west of downtown; and Cedar Park just outside our city limits on Cedar Creek Valley Road (SH 151) south of I-35W/US 287W.) These three communities have all grown rapidly since they were established and continue to do so even as their populations within our city limit grow more slowly – enveloping much larger portions not originally annexed into either Ensley Park or Longview nor Cedar Park but expanding rapidly into other neighborhoods within Travis County over time while still remaining attached to Midlanders through their own elected officials who represent them at City Hall."

Midland is a small town in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,591 at the 2010 census. Midland is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first European to reach what is now Midland was José Bautista de la Salle on July 6, 1541 when he landed on the north coast of modern day Texas after sailing from Havana, Cuba. He founded San Fernando Rey de las Flores Mission and named it "San Fernando" in honor of his patron saint, Fernando Diaz de Balboa y Costilla. In 1795, Antonio López de Santa Anna built a fortification known as La Fortaleza del Alamo within the present day city limits of Midland. Mexican General José Joaquín Murillo's forces left Monterey Bay on July 18 anchored off the west coast of Texas and marched inland through much of today's East Texas before besieging La Fortaleza on September 2–3 1836 during what became known as the Mexican-American War (1846–48). After about two weeks' siege by over 100 men under English Major John Cranch and Captain William Houstoun (alias Houston), Mexican General Antonio Lopez Magón surrendered without battle at San Fernando Cathedral on October 3rd after a five-day occupation that included an estimated one thousand human casualties including women and children taken prisoner along with artillery pieces, stores and equipment stored inside La Fortaleza while its defenders regrouped outside under cover of night. On November 7th 1836 Mexico signed Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ending what became known as the Mexican-American War; land grants were made to various US citizens who participated in or fought in that conflict including James Kenedy Sr., John Fenton & Stephen Fenton for Rancho El Palo Seco; Sam Houston for Rancho Milam; Tom Green for Brazoria County; Manuel Jiménez for Presidio del Rio Grande; David McCullough for Chihuahua County; James Bowie for Gregg County - all within present day Midland Township - less east side annexed by Odessa later that year.; Jens Christensen Larsen acquired land south of present day IH 35license road east boundary line between Odessa Township and unincorporated communities Goodwin Heights and Clearwater Hills nearpresent day Springdale village then east boundary line between SpringdaleVillageand Clearwater Hills community thence southwesterly to original survey boundaries Demise Township & Midlands Creek Community In 1881 Robert Gentry donated 60 acres (25 hectares) to create what would become West Side Park which includes sections of city blocks now part of downtown Midland. On February 13th 1890 Palestine Baptist Church cornerstone was laid southeast corner lot #4 between Main Street & State Highway 249 across street from First National Bank
