In 1916, Midlanders established their own manufacturing facility in Amarillo, TX which helped them stay competitive with much larger companies at this time. With rapid technological advancements throughout World War I (1914-18), came an increase in demand for new ammunition types not found in older types of cartridges such as percussion caps and shot putters*. As a result of this change in consumer behavior, Midlander also saw an increased demand for their own brand of reloadable brass cases* which helped keep them afloat during tough times*. In 1923, along with many other small businesses across the country*, Midlanders merged into what would become Smith & Wesson Corporation* (later renamed Glock). At that point, Midlanders' product line included both reloadable brass cases** as well as traditional rimfire cartridge formulas*.
