Mesquite, Texas is a city in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 3,813 as of the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Coleman County and home to Mesquite High School, which has been named an All-American High School by Newsweek and USA Today. The first person to settle in what is now Mesquite was Nicholas J. Sexton in 1847. He built his Rancho San Antonio on what is now Interstate 20 near the modern site of mesquite airport. Some claim that this name may be derived from a mesquite tree that grew nearby on Mission Road (now I-20). This particular tree became very large and its bark was used as building material for early missions such as Stations Catholic Church and Austin American Statesman newspaper office buildings. Mesquite's growth began with the construction of railroadroads in the late 1800s which led to more settlements being created around it including: Fort Worth, Arlington, Garland, Irvington and Plano. In 1907 Mesquita Canales opened one of the country's first successful carnivals when he organized "The Cotton Carnival". The town quickly developed into a bedroom community for Dallas with many small businesses moving into it during World War II due to military servicemen living there; however, following World War II cotton production dwindled and Mesqitta Canales lost much of his business because people were no longer interested in buying cotton goods from him at prices that had increased tenfold since 1941! In 1964 Miguel Hidalgo Cisneros became president of Mexico after its revolution and ordered all United States Embassies closed along with most other foreign embassies acrossMexico City so that Mexicans could get information about their government without having any distractions! This caused anger among many residents who saw this as an act of censorship! As time went on some people started wearing buttons reading "From Mexican Streets To American Skies" which later morphed into "Mesquite-We stand together!" However, most residents still considered themselves part of "theVillage", even after they converted to Christianity! In 1990 Tami Choate founded Texan Christian College from her home in Mesquite while serving her probation sentence for setting up a prostitution ring out OF Texas!!! After she served her sentence she moved back to Mesquite where she continued running her college until 2000!! The city hosting mesquitoes growing close enough for humans not to smell them has given rise to legends about how these pests got their name (elderly women would say they heard them speak Spanish) but there are no records or sources providing evidence supporting this tale anywhere online or otherwise! ;-) Anyway, according to legend one story goes like this: Once upon a time there was a man named Josefa who lived downriver from where mesquitoes live today called Nochebuena Creek just outside present day Mesquita Canales’ rancho san Antonio(near modern day airport). One summer evening Josefa lit several sparklers under a big old sycamore tree next door just long enough for some pesky mosquitoes – those evil little creatures that suck blood from your skin –to come flying outflying hellbent on gettingJosefa’s blood! After drinking gallons+of Josefa’s red blood concentrate throughtoutsummershe finally drove them off by making herselfard publicly available ata local fairgrounds public entertainment area !! Just think about all those dollars yall would have gotten if yall had only knownaboutthisbeforeyallstartedbuilding downtownmesquittexistingjustoutsidethecity limits ;-)

Mesquite, an American soldier and surveyor who explored and surveyed what is now Midland County in 1841. Mesquite's economy has been based on agriculture for most of its history. Today, it is a bedroom community for Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. In 1951, Mesquite became the first city in Midland County to be served by the Dallas-based Independent School District (ISD). In 2002, ISD merged with the Houston Independent School District (HISD) to form one large school district. The original Mesquite post office opened in 1836 and continued until 1865 when it merged with nearby Arlington to form Arlington Post Office No. 1. The current post office was built in 1904 and continues to serve as the town's primary postal center today. In 1881, mesquite consolidated with other villages withinMidland County under one governance system known as "the tripartite government." Thistripartite government consisted of three elected officials: a justice of peace; a county commissioner; and a land commissioner which supervised local agricultural production and conducted township elections toxpoblación electoral or township voting districts were two square miles wide at their widest point with twenty five hundred residents per ward electing two members each
Mesquite was founded in 1836 by Captain James F. Hogg and his wife, Cynthia. The town was named for the Mesquite Tree, which is said to have been discovered in the area. In 1850, Mesquite became a county seat and remained so until 1912 when it was moved to Amarillo.
