The newest development to join this growing list is "Garden District" located just off US Highway 69 on HWY 59 between FM 19605 & FM 19679 which will feature over 20 restaurants + 5 bars/pubs + movie theater complex including a new IMAX movie theater!

Mercedes is a town in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. Mercedes was founded in 1876 by German immigrants and named for theirBenz car dealership. It started as a summer community on the banks of the Neches River. The first post office in Mercedes was established in 1877, and it continued to serve until 1907. In 1936, Mercedes began annexing portions of neighboring Addison County. As a result of this annexation, the population of Mercedes grew from 1,501 residents at the 2000 census to 2,815 residents at the 2010 census. The annexation created what is now known as Merkel Township (from which most of Benz Hill appellation comes). On November 3rd, 1938 during World War II when all U.S.–Mexico border towns were closed due to lack of troops available or because they were being used as evacuation centers for civilians living east of City Limits Highway 25 miles west of San Antonio (the current site of downtown San Antonio), Mercedes voted not to secede from Texas and remain within Medina County even though its own infrastructure would not be able to support such an influx of people and goods necessary for wartime production. Mercedes, Texas is located in Midland County and is the most recent addition to the Texas map. The community was platted in 1909 and named for American automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz. In 1928, the area became a U.S. military outpost after World War I as part of Fort Worth Sector 4 from which many troops and supplies arrived during the hostilities. The post closed in 1961 due to budget cuts but it reopened as a campus for Southern Methodist University in 2003.
