Gun targets have been a part of the history of Mercedes, Texas since the early 1800s. The first target shooters in this area used logs to shoot at stone targets. By the turn of the century, there were shooting galleries in several businesses in downtown Mercedes. These businesses would rent space to provide an outdoor range for customers to shoot at real or replica firearms. In 1907, a man by the name of George Wray developed a system that allowed shooters to hit moving objects with gunfire using mirrors on either side of a firing platform. This system became known as “Wray” Target System and was used by many gunfighters during World War I and II. In 1957, the city of Mercedes passed an ordinance prohibiting firing ranges within city limits. However, this ordinance did not take into account theexistenceofgun Targets located outside of townlimits. Nevertheless, over time thesegun targets have continued to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike and continue to serve as an important partofMercedes’ history.
Gun targets are a popular type of target because they are relatively easy to hit. The problem with gun targets is that they can be easily moved, making them difficult to keep in one place. This makes them a poor choice for shoots outdoors.
The first shooting in Mercedes took place on October 6, 1892. The first gun to be used in a Texas fight was a Colt revolver.
Mercedes, Texas is a town located in Montgomery County, Texas. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The townsite was established by citizens of two small settlements on August 29, 1872 when they voted to form a new county. The name "Mercedes" is derived from French for "happy." The first post office opened in 1875 and the town had its first school in 1876. The First Baptist Church served as the town's first building and held services until 1907. A Methodist church was built in 1916, but it burned down in 1951. Between 1957 and 1960, a shopping center called Park Plaza was built on what are now FM 528 and US 290 west of downtown Mercedes. In 1972, ExxonMobil purchased neighboring land that would become their corporate headquarters campus for Texaco Refinery employees and their families adjacent to FM 528 east of downtown Mercedes (the original site). ExxonMobil donated $5 million to build Park Plaza which became one of the most popular tourist destinations in town with over 100 shops/restaurants including an art museum which opened in 2006 - now known as the Mercedes Art Museum (formerly known as The Houston Museum of Fine Arts). Park Plaza closed its doors permanently after 108 years due to budget cuts made by then Mayor Annise Parker during her term as mayor beginning with One Hundred thirty fourth Street SW between 6th & 7th Streets NE - cutting off much needed tourism revenue that helped fund city coffers throughout her entire tenure! In addition to retail stores, restaurants have been sprouting up all around downtown since before Park Plaza closed its doors; such places include Alamo Drive-Incrawler BBQ & Grillin', City Grill near I-35W exit 12A/US 290 eastbound), Crave Chinese Bistro across from Hyatt Regency hotel near Loop 610E exit 10A/I-610 northbound), Just Desserts next door to Wells Fargo bank opposite IHOP restaurant) added since then are Joes Pizza locate at Loop 610E exit 9B southbound) just outside Loop 610E exit 10A northbound) Starbucks Coffee(near Barnes & Noble bookstore)opened earlier this year across from IHOP along Seawall Boulevard South just past Walmart Supercenter

The history of shootinggun targets dates back to the early 1800s. One of the earliest known types of shootinggun target was a “cannonball” target, which consisted of a small metal ball that could be fired by taking hold of one end and pulling it towards the other. The ball would then hit the bottom or rear side of the target, often resulting in a shower of sparks. This type of target was also used for practice at gun clubs and other sporting events.
In the late 1800s, Mercedes was a small town in Texas. It was known for its cotton fields and theBenz family. The Benz family owned a large farm that produced many crops and animals. They also had several barns and homes in Mercedes. TheBenz family had several children who became successful business owners in their own right. Their son, Gustavus Benz, started his own printing company in 1922 and later became one of the largest publishers of books in Texas. In 1956, he founded The Texas Observer, which remains an influential news outlet today. Another son, Friedrich Benz, helped start The Houston Chronicle in 1937 and has been its editor-in-chief ever since. Today, the Benz family still owns a significant share of Houston's paper market share. Other descendants have continued to make important contributions to their communities - such as Donatus Benz Jr., who is currently Mayor of Houston; or Jens benz (JB), co-founder of Uber Technologies Incorporated).
The town of Mercedes, Texas was founded in 1878 by James Bowie and his brother John. The town grew rapidly due to the railroad, and in 1907 it became a city. In 1948 it was annexed by Houston.
