Marshall, Texas (population:128,000) is the largest city in and the county seat of Hudspeth County, Texas. The population was 139,811 as of 2010. Located on the Gulf Coast of Texas between Houston and Corpus Christi, Marshall has been a center for cotton culture since before it was a county. The Cotton Bowl Game was played here in 1944 and the University of Southern California's Trojans won 63-0. The first cotton plantations were located near present-day Marshall. A post office called Marshall was established in 1875, and by 1880, there were six stores in town. By 1907, there were 11 businesses in town and 100 people lived there. In 1910, when Hudspeth County was organized into counties, Marshall became its county seat. The first courthouse was built at this time; it burned down in 1916 but was replaced with a new courthouse which still stands today. In 1943 the Cotton Bowl game took place here between Oklahoma and USC; the United States Army Air Forces won 27-0 over Oklahoma State College football team. Today many industries exist within Marshal including shipbuilding (the oldest such business being JB Lumber), telecommunications (including AT&T Bell Laboratories' now demolished phone booth building), manufacturing (furniture Manufacturers Trust Company formerly headquartered here), processed foods (including Kellogg's Corn Flakes) as well as oil refineries that produce local gasoline oil products as well as petrochemical products such as plastics and polypropylene products from Koch Industries'.

This holster consisted of a belt loop that held two pistols, and an extra strap was connected to the front waistband of the captain's pants.
Marshall was founded in 1869 by David Marshall and his wife, Lydia. The town was named in honor of General James K. Polk, who had commanded the Texas army during the Mexican-American War. The first post office was established in Marshall on October 25, 1869. By 1900, the population of Marshall had reached 456 residents and the town had a school, store, and two hotels. In 1899, Marshal became the county seat of Robertson County and a general store was built on Main Street. The town continued to grow until it reached its peak in 1920 with a population of 1,857 people. From 1925 to 1930, Marshall experienced a long-term drought that caused significant crop failures; however, the town continued to thrive thanks to its tax base and volunteer fire department. WhenRobertsonCountywasdividedinto two parts in 1933,Marshallbecamethenewentertainmenttowninthe northwestern cornerofthecountyalongwithCrystal CityandWaco.Marshall remained an important community until its decline during World War II when most of the manufacturing activity moved out to larger towns such as Waco or Dallas. However, some small businesses continue to operate today including a restaurant and gift shop on Main Street called Main StreetEateries & Gifts which is open daily from 9am to 5pm
Marshall was founded in 1827 by Captain John Marshall and his wife, Martha. The area that now includes Marshall was first settled by Native Americans, and the first European to set foot in the area was William Folsom. In 1836, Marshall became a county seat of Austin County. It gained statehood as a municipality in 1907. The city of Austin was incorporated in 1916, followed by the town ofMarshall on November 1, 1934. The population of the city increased to over 100,000 people by 2000.
